An Applied Vehicle experiences reduced power during extremely heavy snow fall,

And


Snow is found inside the air cleaner case.
NOTE: The MIL may be ON with DTC P0101 (MAF SEN/CIRCUIT B1) stored.

ACTION
1. Remove any snow build-up and replace the air cleaner filter.
2. Inspect for the presence of foam block 1, foam block 2A, and foam block 2B, and install
them if not present.
3. Inspect for the presence of a foam block near the left headlight, and remove it if present.
4. Inspect for the presence of foam on the front grille, and replace the front grille (if
applicable).

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Open the engine hood.
2. Remove any snow from inside the air duct assembly, resonator, and air cleaner case.
3. Replace the air cleaner filter.
4. Inspect the location outlined in green in Figure 1 for the presence of foam block 1.


If foam block 1 is present in the location shown, skip to step 7 on page 4.



If foam block 1 is not present in the location shown, continue to step 5 on page 3.

5. Clean the area of the hood with 50% isopropyl alcohol or equivalent cleaner where foam
block 1 will be attached (shown outlined in green in Figure 2).

6. Install foam block 1 so that it is in the center of the hood inner convex shape and 5 mm
from the hood inner seal, as shown in Figure 3.


7. Remove the front grille and set aside.


Refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM), section BODY EXTERIOR, DOORS,
ROOF & VEHICLE SECURITY > EXTERIOR > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION >
FRONT GRILLE for front grille removal information.

8. Inspect the locations outlined in green in Figure 4 for the presence of foam block 2A and
foam block 2B.


If foam block 2A and foam block 2B are present in the locations shown, skip to
step 11 on page 6.



If foam block 2A or foam block 2B are not present in the locations shown, continue
to step 9 on page 5.

9. Clean the areas shown outlined in green in Figure 5 with 50% isopropyl alcohol or
equivalent cleaner where foam block 2A and foam block 2B will be attached.

10. Install foam block 2A and foam block 2B in the locations shown in Figure 4 on page 4.


11. If a piece of foam is present where shown in Figure 6, remove it.


If no foam is present, continue to step 12 on page 7.

12. Place the front grille face down on a suitable work surface.
13. Inspect the backside of the front grille for the presence of foam in the locations outlined
in Figure 7 and Figure 8.

If the front grille is determined to be an original grille as shown in Figure 7, replace
the front grille with the new one listed in Parts Information.
 If there is a front camera, transfer it from the old grille to the new grille.
 Refer to the ESM, section BODY EXTERIOR, DOORS, ROOF & VEHICLE
SECURITY > EXTERIOR > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > FRONT
GRILLE for front grille installation.
 If the new grille has a front camera, refer to the ESM, section DRIVER
INFORMATION & MULTIMEDIA > AUDIO, VISUAL & NAVIGATION SYSTEM
> INTELLIGENT AROUND VIEW MONITOR SYSTEM > BASIC INSPECTION >
CALIBRATING CAMERA IMAGE (INTELLIGENT AROUND VIEW MONITOR)
for front camera image calibration.



If the front grille is determined to be a replacement grille as shown in Figure 8, refer
to the ESM, section BODY EXTERIOR, DOORS, ROOF & VEHICLE SECURITY >
EXTERIOR > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > FRONT GRILLE for front grille
installation.
 If the front grille was determined to be a replacement and has a front camera,
refer to the ESM, section DRIVER INFORMATION & MULTIMEDIA > AUDIO,
VISUAL & NAVIGATION SYSTEM > INTELLIGENT AROUND VIEW MONITOR
SYSTEM > BASIC INSPECTION > CALIBRATING CAMERA IMAGE
(INTELLIGENT AROUND VIEW MONITOR) for front camera image calibration.

14. If stored, erase DTC P0101.
