Subject: Firmware update for Portofino exhaust silencer actuators
Please note that it is necessary to install a firmware update for vehicles from Assembly No.143566
to Assembly No. 170066 (from VIN No. 225397 to VIN No. 249969) to improve the selfacquisition of the parameters of the exhaust silencer actuators on the aforementioned model.
The list of these vehicles may be viewed directly from the New Modis portal, by selecting the
section "Recall and Service Campaign Management" and entering the campaign number
indicated.
The following equipment is required to perform this update (Fig.1):

Stabilized 12v power supply/voltage generator.

- IMPORTANT Ferrari will provide some dealerships with a kit containing the SBS Feintechnik ATS tester
(A) and the connector wiring harness (C) necessary for the procedure. The USB drive (B)
and the stabilized 12v power supply/voltage generator (D) are not included in this kit.
If you do not receive a kit with the update tool, contact your Area Business Manager or
Technicalsupport_FNA@Ferrari.com and we will instruct you where to send the silencers
for reprogramming.

Configuring the SBS Feintechnik ATS tester
Before performing the actual procedure, the tester must be configured as indicated below.
 Press the Actuator Setup button –

 Select the green area next to “Actuator Type”, select “11263---” and press OK –
Fig.3 and 4.

 Press the “HOME” button and then
confirm you want to save the settings by
pressing “Yes” – Fig.5.

Procedure
The procedure described as follows must be carried out for BOTH exhaust silencers.
 Download the file “12630400.zip” containing the firmware needed for the update from

the ECU Software Downloads section of New Modis, accessible via the following path:
NewModis Portal -> Aftersales Services -> ECU Software Downloads
 Unzip the file and copy the contents onto the USB drive.
 Select the SBS Feintechnik ATS tester (A) from the kit and identify the ports to be used
for connection – Fig.6 and 7.

Connect the USB pen drive to port B;
Connect the connector of the wiring harness to port C;
Connect the power supply connector to port D.

 Openings under the diffuser allow access to the connectors of the right and left hand
exhaust silencers (Fig. 8). To help access, preferably raise the vehicle on a vehicle lift. The
connector is situated in the zone indicated in Fig. 9.

 To help identify the connector itself and perform the procedure, the wiring harness
connector is shown alone (Fig. 10) and connected to a silencer removed from the vehicle
(Fig. 11) in the figures below.

 Switch the tester on and then press “System
Setup” to launch the firmware update
procedure - Fig.12.

 From the next screen, press “Software
Update” to continue - Fig. 13.

with the update. The default password is 0000
