RECALL R16YT, Propane Fuel Line Routing

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle
Safety Act.
Blue Bird Body Company is recalling certain model year 2015-2017 Vision Propane School Buses
manufactured from July 3, 2014, through June 24, 2016, and certain model year 2016-2017 Vision
Propane Non-School Buses manufactured from September 24, 2015, through May 21, 2016. Certain
buses equipped with Ford 6.8L Propane Engines could have incorrect fuel line routing. If operated under
this condition, this could cause the fuel lines to rub against each other which could lead to a propane fuel
leak. A propane fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire causing injury and/or
damage to property.
Buses should be corrected immediately according to the enclosed instructions for Recall R16YT. Dealers
should inspect and re-route the fuel lines to prevent future damage. The fuel line(s) will be replaced if
damage is found. Parts are currently available in limited quantities at no cost to you.
If Blue Bird’s records indicate bus(es) subject to this recall were delivered in your service area, a list of
affected bus(es) will be enclosed. The bus(es) will be identified by the Blue Bird Body Number and
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the enclosed yellow cover sheet. Dealers should verify correct
owners and assure that complete mailing and shipping addresses are provided for each listed
owner.

Parts to complete Recall R16YT must be obtained from Blue Bird Recall Administration via e-mail
at [email protected] or return the yellow coversheet to Blue Bird in the pink, selfaddressed, postage prepaid envelope to receive parts at no charge. Be sure to provide a valid
shipping address as UPS does not deliver to post office boxes. You should retain a copy of the reply
sheet for your records. Parts are currently available in limited quantities.

Steps and allowable labor times for this campaign:
Step A:
 Inspect, Add Ties, and Reroute Lines:
o 0.5 hour (30 minutes)
Step B:
 If necessary, purging the system to disconnect line(s) for rerouting (no lines replaced) for additional:
o 0.5 hour (30 minutes)
Step C:
 If necessary, purging the system to disconnect line(s) for rerouting and replace one line for additional:
o 1 hour (60 minutes)
Step C+:
 If necessary, purging the system to disconnect line(s) for rerouting and replace additional line for
additional:
o 0.5 hours (30 minutes) for each
For repairs performed by ‘the Blue Bird Dealer’, the Dealer may submit ‘Campaign-type’ claims in
ClaimsCenter for labor reimbursement to the Dealer. For repairs performed by ‘other than the Blue Bird
Dealer’, the Owner’s recall notification letter includes a pink reply sheet that the Owner can send to Blue
Bird Recall Administration for reimbursement of labor costs to the Owner.
When preparing the campaign claim, select the appropriate labor allowance (by deleting the two choices
not needed) and entering the hourly labor rate:
 0.5 hour labor allowance for Step A
 1.0 hour labor allowance for Steps A and B
 1.5 hour labor allowance for Steps A and C
o If more than one line is replaced (Steps A and C+) select this labor allowance and add 0.5
hour for each additional line replaced.
Federal law requires that any vehicle lessor receiving this recall notice must forward a copy of this
notice to the lessee within ten days.
Dealers are reminded of their responsibilities under Section 154 of The National Traffic and Motor
Vehicle Safety Act of 1991. Dealers are required to complete modifications on units in their inventory
before delivering to the final owner. Reference Blue Bird Body Company Distributor Memo No. 42-92.
