Reason for this Service Bulletin
It is possible that when the windows on Rapide are operated, you can hear a squeak from the window glass. This occurs
on the rear door glass especially during the short drop when you open a door.
The flocking on the end of the rear waist seal for the window can wear off and cause the rubber of the seal to rub against
the glass and cause a squeak. The flocking only wears in this specific area because the rubber edge seal on the glass
causes too much wear in this area. Refer to Figure 1 and Figure 2 for the area (1) where the problem occurs.

To correct this problem, do the procedure that follows to remove the area of the rear waist seal that causes the squeak.
Note:
The problem can affect the left and the right side.
Workshop Procedure

Fully open the applicable window.

Open the door.

Measure dimension “A” 20 mm from the end of the
waist seal and make a mark (1) on the bottom flange of
the seal (refer to Figure 3).

CAUTION:

BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE THE CARRIER FOR THE SEAL DURING THE STEP THAT
FOLLOWS. IF YOU DAMAGE THE CARRIER YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE OUTER WAIST
FINISHER ASSEMBLY.
Use a sharp knife (1) to carefully cut down the mark (2)
that you made in step 3 (refer to Figure 4).

Use the sharp knife to make a horizontal cut to remove
the worn part of the seal (1). Cut the seal (1) flush with
the seal carrier (refer to Figure 5).

Figure 6 shows the outer waist finisher after the part of
the seal has been removed.

Open the adjacent front door.
8.
Close the applicable rear door.

Look at the end of the outer waist finisher towards
the rear of the vehicle. The seal (1) must look the
same as shown in Figure 7.

CAUTION:
DO NOT OPERATE THE WINDOW IF THE METAL PART OF THE OUTER WAIST FINISHER (3)
TOUCHES THE GLASS. THE OUTER WAIST FINISHER CAN DAMAGE THE GLASS.
10.
Make sure that the end of the waist finisher (2) does not touch the glass (3). If the waist finisher (2) touches the
glass (3), do not operate the glass and replace the waist finisher.
11.
Do steps 1 thru 10 again for the opposite side of the vehicle.
