MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH REPLACEMENT (SC 130)

This bulletin provides the procedure to replace the Multi-Function Switch (see below) in certain
2015~2016MY K900 (KH) Luxury V8 vehicles, equipped with LED Headlights, and produced
from December 18, 2013 through January 11, 2016. Use of the headlights in AUTO mode over
time may result in increased electrical resistance of the contact points, which in turn may affect
the operation of the Electronic Control Unit located inside the Multi-Function Switch. If this
occurs, the headlights may flicker and/or intermittently turn off while driving. To correct this
condition, follow the procedure outlined in this bulletin. Before conducting the procedure, verify
the vehicle is included in the list of affected VINs.

 NOTICE
There is no charge to the vehicle owner for this repair. Under applicable law, you
may not sell or otherwise deliver any affected vehicle until it has been repaired
pursuant to the procedures set forth in this bulletin.

 NOTICE

Service Procedure:
1.

Remove one (1) screw (A) securing
the left side of the steering column
shroud.

 TIP

A

Removal
of
the
steering
wheel/clock spring assembly is
NOT required.

CAUTION

Wear disposable gloves to avoid
damaging interior components.



To avoid scratching interior
components, use caution when
removing the screws securing
the steering column shroud.

Remove one (1) screw (B) securing the
right side of the steering column shroud.

Remove one (1) bolt (C) from the
lower steering column shroud, as
shown.

CAUTION
To
avoid
scratching
interior
components, use caution when
removing the screws securing the
steering column shroud.

Use a plastic panel remover to
separate the upper steering column
shroud (D) from the lower section, as
shown.

CAUTION
Use a non-marring trim removal tool
(such as Snap-on® P/N PBN5 or
equivalent) to avoid damaging trim
pieces.

5.

Remove the lower steering column
shroud (E), as shown.

 TIP
If the lower steering column
shroud (E) is difficult to remove,
raise the steering column and then
pull the lower shroud panel out.

Disconnect the steering column
position adjuster knob connector (F)
to finish removing the lower steering
column shroud.

7.

Remove the Multi-Function Switch
connector (G), as shown.

8.

Use a prying tool to press the MultiFunction Switch detent (H), as shown,
while applying outward force to the
Multi-Function Switch (I).

8A.

Remove and discard the multi-function
switch and replace it with a new one.

9.

Reinstall all removed components by
reversing the order of removal.

10.

Verify proper Multi-Function Switch
and head lamp operation.
