I got a possibly stupid question, driver complained that wipers don't work in the first two positions (low 1, low 2).
verified complaint, wipers sweep one time, then do not turn back on in either of those low positions, they do
however work on the top two positions low 3 and high. Battery voltage is good LVD is not a concern, haven't
checked grounds yet but I'm doubtful that's my issue. I took over in I/O control and they function as they
should when forced through a laptop, the weird thing is that both low positions are registered as "on" in I/O
control when in that position... Its as if a parameter for delay has been adjusted...

figured it out, found out there is a newer technology for 2020 models that includes a rain/light switch behind
a rather large box located on the windshield. the LDW camera wire was caught underneath the top right
portion of the windshiled mounting plate, thus causing the rain/light sensor to not seat all the way against
the windshield. adjusted the wire and stuck the corner of the mounting plate back to the windshield. rain/light
sensor now flush with the windshield and wipers work in every position.

if you search "rain" in new Cascadia workshop manual there are a couple of documents for the rain/light
sensor. 54.11.150 is for removal/installation
but I'm with you Scott I wish I would have known that was now an option before fooling around scratching my
head looking for some phantom issue...

It was mentioned that there is a rain sensor in a new online class for the Multipurpose Camera. It was a
required class to keep the Cascadia certification.

Looking at the original picture, I'm curious why the truck would even have an additional LDW camera when it
already has the MPC with the Detroit assurance.

Had the same thing yesterday. Not specifically sure why there is two delay positions. If auto
wipers work at same speed in both positions. Also had complaint of right lane departure going
off by itself. Had same setup with additional Bendix ldw camera for same head-scratching
reason. The wire wasn’t blocking the bracket like this post. But the only corner adhered to
the windshield was the bottom left. So the whole right side was floating off the windshield.
Apparently the bracket is on back order too. Same with the windshield.

i can only assume the Bendix camera sends crash data thru telematics. Where the Detroit
Assurance needs to be connected to a laptop for that data? Or maybe they are backups? Now I

can’t wait to see 4 cameras as backups for backups; lytx, assurance, Bendix and wabco cameras.

lol I do believe the only reason a Bendix camera is there is for crash data. I believe that data is sent through
the SDP module. I'm still waiting for the J1939 hook up to the driver like the movie matrix on the back of their
necks/head

Also keep in mind that the New Cascadia Wiper system is a self learning system. The intermittent setting
is actually triggered by the on-off spacing when the switch is triggered by the driver. This info is not in the
troubleshooting manual which I think it should be. It can only be found in the drivers manual. See below.
Basically like your car, if its raining and your wipers are working too fast and making that lovely noise your
manually slow them down to keep pace with the rain on the windshield. This type of system will automatically
keep that setting for up to 25 seconds between cycles.
For wiper intermittent operation, there are two settings. The first intermittent setting has a default interval of
6 seconds, but the interval is programmable from 1 to 25 seconds. To program the interval, rotate the switch
from the first intermittent position to the OFF position, wait for the desired interval between wipes to lapse
(between 1 and 25 seconds), and then move the switch back to the first intermittent position. If the switch is
kept in the OFF position for more than 50 seconds, the interval changes back to the default of 6 seconds.The
second intermittent setting has an interval of 1 second, and is not programmable.If the vehicle is equipped with
a rain-light sensor and the wiper switch is in either of the intermittent settings, the wipers automatically come on
when it rains. If the vehicle is moving faster than 40 mph (64 km/h) the wiper speed automatically increases or
decreases as needed depending on weather conditions.

I had the same issue of the wipers not working on intermittent and only working on low or high. After reviewing
the information above about the Bendix cable being in the way of the bracket. I removed the mpc cover and
found as soon as I moved the rain sensor the wipers started working. I found the mpc is getting hot. Too hot to
touch! Causing the rain sensor gel coating to melt.

So, do you think the MPC is the cause? Or VRDU or wiring? Have you checked for water damage in the 20 pin
black connector about 18'' from the VRDU. I think it sits just about at the floor area. Weird that it would get hot
to the touch. Let us know what you find out. Thanks for the info.

I did not find any issues with the power or ground at either connection and both pass a load test. I did install a
test MPC and it did not get as hot. The best I can figure the cover will not let the heat escape, And even under
normal conditions I wouldn't be surprised if someone living in higher temperature areas sees this problem more
often.

can confirm living in hotter climates (Florida) has made this a more common occurrence.
ever since finding the first truck to have the issue of the first 2 speeds on wiper settings not working, have
found quite a few trucks with the glue holding the rain sensor in place coming loose on the bottom side of
sensor.

Maybe we should be pressing down on the cameras for 15 seconds for new trucks, during the PDI . Just to
confirm its secured nicely.
