Cascadia cruise control inop after Detroit software update Jun 28, 2017 2:44 PM
Several times I have updated the software levels on a DD engine, and then the cruise control doesn't work
after the update. All of the switches/inputs in DDDL work properly, the cruise just will not set going down
the road. The first time this happened Detroit told us to change the paramter for the cruise control pause
switch. We have found that changing the source address for the cruise control pause switch from "CCVS2 and
CCVS3" to "CCVS3 only" will make the cruise work again. We have had quite a few trucks do this. I mostly
notice it on EPA07 trucks, but lately we have had a few GHG14 trucks that needed this paramter changed.
(Example vin GD5371) Does anyone know why we have to do this or if there is any published information on it?
The software levels before and after for serial GD5371 were:
old SW versions
CPC R33_00_000a
MCM 4.1.0.47
ACM 3.1.3.0
New SW versions
CPC X34_02_000a
MCM 4.7.0.0
ACM 5.57.0.0

Is it a 2017 p3 or p4 chassis and you put the newest software in it, we had one yesterday
With the oil pressure gauge problem see the service solution for that, updated via freightliner
on our laptop
then the truck wouldn't start had to program it back down 1 revision then it would start.

It was a P3, I'm just curious because I've been running into this for a while now, but there is no published
information on it.

I do a DDEC report first. To save the history of the unit. Then save the parameters to a file. Then do the
update. Then compair the parameters.

Sometimes when you do a software update. It will clear out the history in the CPC. I have ran into mechanics.
That will do a software update. Just to clear to fault codes. That's why I am very careful on doing software

updates. I have been told by the New Cascadia CSC. Not to do any software updates. On the cabin modules. It
just makes a mess. They had me reboot the cabin modules one time. To eliminate one module.

I have a dumb question, as much as we try to understand this and help and what not why for the love of god
is becoming so difficult software updates were supposed to help, now if it doesn't download right, the laptop
burps, the moon's don't line up correctly we cause more problems than we had before, sorry had to get that
out, and why don't we know what these updates are supposed to fix or help like we used to, version xx.xx.x is
the these issues version zx.xc.xx is for this issue and so on
Sorry guys I had to vent

Thanks for the post. Had one come in with cruise INOP. Compared parameters and had 45 changes from
oem in the CPC from the server. Cruise switches were set to Ccvs 2 and 3 and one was hardwired. All
changed to Ccvs 3 from the server.

Those parameters are in PGR013 Inputs. Got a ghg14 that I noticed cruise inop on.

FYI, we have an older laptop with 8.08 still installed. Performed a regen with a SCR performance test on a new
unit logging inducement faults all codes cleared with no issue. Much better!

No sir, it was my old laptop used for express assessment. I talked them into letting me keep it for a back
up in case my new laptop crapped out of me. I just never got around to updating it to 8.09. Worked out
for us that I didn't.

Thanks for this post, saved me a lot of time. I had even reset the cpc to the factory settings and the cruise still
would not work, even though all the switches being monitored looked like the cruise should have functioned.

Once I changed the source address for the cruise control pause switch from "CCVS2 and CCVS3" to "CCVS3
only", the cruise worked properly.
