DAVCO 382 Fuel Filter Interference Issue with Return Fuel Heat Option on Models 579/567

Introduction
Peterbilt has determined that vehicles meeting the criteria below may exhibit interference between the fuel line
fittings on the Davco fuel filter and the brake chamber due to insufficient clearance. Repeated contact between the
fuel filter fuel line fittings and the brake chamber may cause the fittings to break and leak or may cause canister
damage.
Model 579/567 vehicles Model Years 2018 and 2019 built between 01/16/2017 and 07/09/2018 equipped with a
return fuel heated DAVCO 382 fuel filter, short hood, Set Back Front Axle (SBFA) and one of the following:
Front drum brakes
Disc brakes with DANA E-Series axles
Disc brakes with Meritor MFS20 axles
Disc brakes with DANA D2000 axles

Resolution
Service all chassis affected that enter your dealership, even if the customer has no issue with the chassis.
1. Review the attached chassis list for your dealer code and schedule your customer(s) for service if their chassis is on the
list.
2. Confirm with the customer that your dealership will be the repairing location before ordering parts.
3. Prepare an inventory of the parts and ensure all required parts have arrived prior to scheduling the chassis for the repair.
4. If you are not using Service Management to start repair orders, review SIR for “Complete” or “In Process” next to the
“44031” campaign code prior to performing this repair.
5. Follow the procedures below to adjust the DAVCO 382 fuel filter and replace the fuel lines.

CAUTION
Dealers that release trucks on the chassis list without completing the actions described below may face liability for
progressive damage.

Through Standard Warranty or for repairs completed by 11/01/2021, whichever is greater, Peterbilt will pay for parts and labor at dealer net plus
applicable mark-up and labor:
1.5 hours labor to adjust the DAVCO 382 fuel filter housing and replace the fuel lines. File a long form claim.

Field Repair 44-031 – Model 579/567 Fuel Filter Interference with Brake Chamber

Dear Peterbilt Customer,
Peterbilt is pleased to inform you that certain Model 579 and 567 vehicles are eligible for a campaign to reposition the fuel filter fittings and
re-route fuel lines to prevent interference between the fuel line fittings and brake chamber on the front axle. Sustained contact between the
fittings and the brake chamber may cause the fittings to crack and leak fuel.
What is Peterbilt improving?

Fuel line fittings may crack and leak fuel.

What will this improvement do?

Dealers will adjust the fuel filter, replace the fittings and
attached fuel lines.

What should you do?

Contact your Peterbilt dealer to schedule an appointment.

of labor depending on vehicle configuration and dealer scheduling. There will be no charge to you if completed within standard warranty or
by 11/01/2021, whichever is greater.
If you had this repair performed before you received this letter, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a prenotification remedy of the problem associated with this campaign. Please contact your Peterbilt dealer for more information.
