SITUATION :

Quality Engineering at McLaren Automotive have released a new
software platform for the 12C.
The most noticeable customer benefits of this software are:
o Japanese Navigation map
o Navigation improvements
o Media player improvements

PROCEDURE :

It is necessary to update the software on all affected vehicles within
your Aftersales car parc, both when carrying out Pre-Delivery
Inspections (PDI) and at the next service centre visit

IRIS update:
Care point: IRIS software downloads requires the vehicle to be in ignition state 5.
1. Ensure the IRIS is powered up to the home screen and Radio is off.
Care point: The USB drive must be engaged with the gold contact points facing downwards.
2. Insert the USB drive 11M2518CP.08 into the USB socket (1), then press and hold the centre IRIS button
for approximately five seconds until the McLaren logo screen appears. This will trigger the software
download process.

3. The following screen will be displayed, select Yes (2).

4. The following software download screen will be displayed whilst the update is proceeding (3).

5. Once the update has completed the following screen will appear (4), remove the USB drive.

Care Point: System reboot can take up to three minutes and during this period the screen may appear blank
or contain lines.
6. Once the reboot has completed the following screen will appear (5), select Dismiss (6).

7. Press and hold the centre IRIS button for approximately five seconds until the McLaren logo screen
appears to reset the unit and the normal functionality will return.

8. EMMC Formatting and Navigation software installation is only required on vehicles built with Meridian
Surround Sound, if this is not required carry out steps 21 to 22.
9. Select the “SETTINGS” icon on the home screen to enter the settings menu (7).

10. Hold down the IRIS mute button and perform the following actions by turning the volume control ring:
Right two notches on volume control
Left one notch on volume control
Right three notches on volume control
Left two notches on volume control

11. An additional option “DEALER SETTINGS” will appear (8) select this option to enter the dealer settings
menu.

12. Select “FORMAT EMMC” (9).

13. EMMC Formatting in progress will be displayed (10).

14. When the EMCC pop up disappears the formatting has finished.
15. Press and hold the centre IRIS button for approximately five seconds until the McLaren logo screen
appears to reset the unit and the normal functionality will return.
16. Insert the USB drive that contains the Satellite Navigation software variant applicable to your market (by
referring to the software table on page 1), select Yes,(11)

17. The following screen will be displayed (12).

18. Once the update has completed and rebooted the following screen will appear (13), select Dismiss (14)
and remove the USB drive.

19. Press and hold the centre IRIS button for approximately five seconds until the McLaren logo screen
appears to reset the unit and return normal functionality will return.
20. Repeat steps 9 to 11 on vehicles that have had Navigation software installed and then proceed.

21. Select the region you require to enable the correct radio frequency for your country (15), refer to Region
information below :WESTERN EUROPE:- Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Monaco,
Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Hong Kong, China, Australia, Singapore, Bahrain,
Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE (Abu Dhabi, Dubai), South Africa and Lebanon.
NORTH AMERICA: - USA, Canada and Canada- Quebec.
JAPAN:- Japan
REST OF WORLD: - Do not select.

22. Press and hold the centre IRIS button for approximately five seconds until the McLaren logo screen
appears to reset the unit and return normal functionality.
