Replacement of the displacement sensor brackets and drop link rods

SITUATION :

Quality Engineering at McLaren Automotive have identified a potential failure
mode of the wishbone displacement sensor brackets. This is as a result of the
displacement sensor drop link rods becoming seized due to excessive
amounts of Loctite being applied inside the joint.

PROCEDURE :

Please follow the procedure outlined in this document.

Care Point: It is necessary that campaign 11 B 005 is carried out in parallel with campaign 11 A 030 “HVAC Drain
tube modification” (if required).
Care Point: It is necessary that the following campaigns (if applicable) are carried out before 11 B 005
“Replacement of displacement sensors brackets and drop link rods”.

11 A 032 “Replacement of both door latches” or 11 A 033 “Replacement Left-Hand door latch” or 11 A 034
“Replacement Right-Hand door latch”.
11 M 045 “Diversity Tuner Retrofit (including bumper antenna)” or 11 M 046 “Diversity Tuner Retrofit”.

REMOVAL:
1. Please refer to AA-RM-03B03-01-001 - Remove/Install wheel
2. Please refer to AA-RM-02A02-03-002 - Remove/install wheel arch liner – Front
3. Please refer to AA-RM-02A02-03-001 - Remove/install wheel arch liner – Rear

4. Disconnect the suspension displacement sensor electrical connector (1).
5. Remove the C-clips (2) to remove the link rod (3).
6. Remove the bolts (4).

7. Remove the bolt (5) to release the wishbone displacement bracket (6).

8. Remove the bracket securing bolts (7) to release the displacement sensor bracket (8).

9. Repeat steps 4 to 8 for the other side of the vehicle.
10. Disconnect the suspension displacement sensor electrical connector (9).
11. Remove the C-clips (10) to remove the link rod (11).

12. Remove bolts (12) and (13) to release the displacement sensor bracket (14).

13. Remove bolt (14) to release the wishbone displacement bracket (15).

14. Repeat steps 10 to 13 for the other side of the vehicle.

INSTALLATION:
Care Point: Displacement sensors should not be replaced unless they are faulty and/or damaged.
1. Please refer to AA-RM-03B01-01-005 - Remove/install sensor - Suspension displacement Front.
2. Please refer to AA-RM-03B02-01-005 - Remove/install sensor - Suspension displacement Rear.
3. All bolts must be renewed. The correct part numbers and torque values are available in the following tables.

4. Install wheels. Please refer to AA-RM-03B03-01-001 - Remove/install wheel.
5. Install the components in reverse order.
6. Carry out Service Campaign Bulletin - 11 M 041 Vehicle software platform update to 10.2 V6.
It will be the dealer’s responsibility to order the Displacement sensor kit for this campaign, you MUST enter the VIN
number of each vehicle into the customer data field in Unidial (refer to screenshot below) against each line item.
Failure to enter the VIN number will delay your order being processed and despatched.
