Replace water drain hose and retrofit a securing clip (Federal)

SITUATION :

Quality Engineering at McLaren Automotive have identified a
situation where the water drain hose could be separated from the
fuel filler bowl assembly while undergoing unrelated service
operations.

PROCEDURE :

It is necessary to replace the drain hose and to retrofit a securing
clip to the hose on the fuel filler bowl assembly.

Care point: Ensure a window is open when leaving an electronic key in the vehicle.
1.

Leave vehicle unlocked with the fuel filler flap open and the electronic key inside of the vehicle.

REMOVAL:

Please refer to AA-RM-03B03-01-001 - Remove/Install wheel (Rear left)

Please refer to AA-RM-02A02-03-001 - Remove/install wheel arch liner – Rear (Rear left)

Detach the drain hose lower fixing on the floor panel – rear lower extension and lower P-Clip (1)

Remove P-clip from fuel filler hose and water drain hose (2).

7.

Remove water drain hose from fuel filler mechanism spigot (3).

8.

Replace water drain hose with new supplied part.

Care Point: Ensure that the clip tabs are facing the rear of the vehicle.
Care Point: Do not use lubricant when attaching the hose to the spigot.
Care Point: Please ensure natural bend in hose faces towards the front of the vehicle.

Push the drain hose back onto the spigot ensuring that it is fully engaged. Ensure that the constant pressure clip
is approximately 50mm from the top of the hose before sliding up to secure (4).

10. Using pliers open the constant pressure clip and slide it along so that the clip is level with the end of the hose (5).

11. Ensure that the clip is retaining the hose correctly by applying light downward force on the secured hose (6).

INSTALLATION:
Care Point: Please ensure that the water drain hose is fitted securely to the fuel filler bowl, and also floor panel lower
extension before installation of the floor panel – engine / fuel tank.
12. Install drain hose from fuel filler mechanism spigot.

13. Install drain hose lower fixing on the floor panel – rear lower extension
14. Install P-Clips to water drain hose, ensuring they are aligned with the markings on the pipe (7).

15. Install all components removed in reverse order.
16. Apply a yellow sticker to the fuel filler swan neck (8) in order to provide a visual confirmation that the work has
been performed.
