Condition
- No crank
- Harsh Shifting
- SES MIL with no other symptoms
When scanning the vehicle for DTC's, there will be several modules that have set a
U0101 DTC for no communication with the Transmission Control Module (TCM). If
the condition is current there will be no communication with the TCM.
Cause
The cause of the condition may be a TCM software anomaly.
Correction:
To correction this concern performing the following:
1. With the ignition turned o , remove fuse 48 (F48DR) in the Right I/P fuse block X51R for 1 minute.
2. After 1 minute, reinstall the fuse then use GDS2 and try to communicate with the TCM.
- If TCM communication returns, then reprogram the TCM with the latest software available in Tis2Web to
prevent the issue from reoccurring.
- If TCM communication does NOT return, then the concern listed in this PI is not the root cause of the
issue. Technician will then need to follow normal SI diagnostics.

For vehicles repaired under the Bumper-to-Bumper coverage (Canada Base Warranty coverage), use the following
labor operation. Reference the Applicable Warranties section of Investigate Vehicle History (IVH) for coverage
information.
