Technical background
A communication error on Controller Area Network (CAN) Bus D - private CAN network, may result in multiple DTC’s being stored within 0074 Chassis Control , 00D4 – Roll Control System 1 , 00D5 – Roll Control System 2 .

Where applicable the operative MUST refer to 48V system - Safety precautions Rep.Gr 27
•

Check all electrical connectors are secure on the Chassis Control Module, Roll Control System 1 and Roll Control System 2.

•

Check for damage to all associated harness’s and the general cleanliness of Connectors and Chassis Control Modules.

•

Check the current software version for address 0074 - Chassis Control , for vehicles not currently showing software 1140 refer the DISS
query for second level advice – it will be necessary to replace the ECU. If advised to change the ECU refer to Repair Group 43 Selflevelling air spring system – Air suspension – Air suspension control module (J197) – To remove and refit.

•

For vehicles that are currently showing software 1140 proceed to update the Control Unit as follows:-

Note: The closed- circuit voltage of the vehicle must be at least 12.5 V during the update. Connect the vehicle battery to an external
power supply. For further information see the maintenance or repair manual.
• During the update switch off all unnecessary consumers ( ventilation, seat heater, interior illumination etc)
• Because of the highest transmission stability you MUST use the diagnosis interface VAS 6154 ( WiFi diagnostic tool) ONLY
in USB operation or the cable- connected VAS 5055 for the reprogramming ( updating) of control units. If these units are
not available, the diagnosis interface VAS 5054 ( A) can also be used in USB mode
• Do Not under any circumstances use a Bluetooth connection to conduct the reprogramming ( updating) of control units

Select and run Guided Fault Finding. Within the “Special functions” tab select “SVM – Code Input”, then select “Perform test” - Figure 1.

On the next screen enter the correct SVM code for your vehicle (see table below) and select “ Adopt” - Figure 2.

On the following screen confirm the SVM code is correct.

All control modules will be interrogated.
The software of address “0074 - Chassis control” will then be updated - Figure 3.

Once the software has been updated the parameter and calibration settings will be applied - Figure 4.

When complete and at the confirmation screen select “Done/Continue“ – Figure 5.

The summary screen will then be displayed, select “Done/Continue” – Figure 6.

Follow the on screen prompts until “Program end”.
After the update programming is complete, transmission gear selection may not be possible, carry out the following steps in t he order stated
below;
•

Switch off vehicle ignition.

•

Remove the diagnostic interface from the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) port.

•

Switch off and remove the battery charger from the vehicle.

•

Close the bonnet and all doors, lock the vehicle.

•

Wait 5 minutes, the vehicle will enter CAN silence.

•

When 5 minutes has elapsed, unlock the vehicle and open the driver’s door.

•

Switch on the vehicle ignition.

•

Confirm transmission gear selection is possible.

•

Check / Reset vehicle suspension ride height.
