DESCRIPTION
When replacing the Body Control Module (BCM) in a 7th generation vehicle, it needs to be configured and
the instructions in the Workshop manual on MGSS are incorrect. Use the instructions in the Repair
Procedure below to configure the new BCM.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Use the GR8 battery charger SST to maintain battery voltage. Go toSA-063/20.
2. Perform the configuration procedure below:
(a) Record the customer's settings. (The data from the old module will be transferred to the new module
when read-out /write-in are done correctly, but no notification of success or failure is given until the last
moment of configuration.)
(b) Connect M-MDS to the DLC2.
(c) Switch the ignition ON (engine off or running).
(d) Perform vehicle identification.
(e) Start configuration (CONFIGURATION).
(f) Select BCM.
(g) Follow M-MDS procedure.

3. Open the front doors on both sides and the trunk (4SDN) / Lift gate (5HB) and keep them open until the
BCM removal/installation procedure is completed.
NOTE: The ESU and Door-ESU synchronization needs to be performed when the BCM is replaced. It is
performed automatically at the timing of first ignition ON, and to complete the synchronization process
successfully, the front doors and trunk lid/lift gate need to be opened.
4. Turn the wiper switch OFF to avoid wipers unintended movement after installing the new BCM.
5. Remove the BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
6. Install the new BCM in reverse order.
7. After the BCM is replaced, perform the following:
(a) Perform configuration using M-MDS (CONFIGURATION).

NOTE: The odometer may be reset when the BCM is replaced and
configuration is done by using AS BUILT data (Factory Reset) if the
original BCM is out of order and unable to identify the vehicle
using M-MDS. If the odometer is reset when replacing the BCM,
install speedometer replacement label (Mazda e-Store P/N 999995-SPDO-97) on the driver’s door frame edge. Make sure to take
the required action to keep the odometer record as suggested or
designated by the state (similar to the instrument cluster
replacement).

NOTE:




Personalization settings may be reset to factory settings if there is a data transfer failure from the
old BCM.
In this case, MDARS will show "Configuration performed using as-built data."

(b) Perform key programing (IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM-RELATED PARTS PROGRAMMING [(US)]).
(c) Erase the memory in Position Memory System with M-MDS if the vehicle is equipped with memory seat
(POSITION MEMORY SYSTEM MEMORY CLEARING).
(d) Perform the Seat Position Initial Learning with M-MDS (SEAT POSITION INITIAL LEARNING).
(e) Perform the zero point learning for Yaw Rate Sensor (MDARS, Calibrating Yaw Rate for VCM) (SAS
CONTROL MODULE SENSOR INITIALIZATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM US/CANADA SPEC.]).
(f)Perform Forward Sensing Camera dynamic aiming:




Mazda3 -FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) AIMING.
CX-30 - FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) AIMING.

(g) Check if any DTCs are stored in memory and clear them.
