The driver's seat squeaks or squeals when you adjust it forward or backward.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

The driver’s seat flex shaft cover spins while adjusting the seat forward or backward.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Install a wire tie to the flex shaft cover underneath the driver’s seat.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Adjust the driver's seat forward and backward, and listen for squeaking or squealing.




If you hear a noise, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.

If you do not hear a noise, this bulletin does not apply. Continue with normal system troubleshooting.
REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Move the driver’s seat all the way forward, then adjust it to the highest position to access the two rear seat mounting

bolts. Remove them with a TORX Plus 50IP Bit Socket.
2. Adjust the driver’s seat all the way back, Remove the two bolt covers, then remove the two front seat mounting bolts

with a TORX Plus 50IP Bit Socket.

3. Tilt the driver’s seat back, and locate the last hole on the flex shaft cover as shown.

NOTE

This repair is done with the driver’s seat inside the vehicle. To provide a clear view of where to install the wire tie, the

seat was removed from the vehicle for this photo.
4. Route and secure the cable tie through the hole as shown. The cable tie must be above the shaft, toward the front of the

vehicle, and to the right of the tab holding the rod.

NOTE

Do not wrap the wire tie around the harness. Wrap it only around the flex shaft cover and the shaft.
5. Cut off the excess wire tie.

6. Move the seat forward and backward to make sure the noise is gone.

7. Hand-tighten the bolts in order as shown, then tighten them to 43 N•m (32 lb-ft) with the TORX Plus 50IP Bit Socket.
8. Install the front seat bolt covers.
