DRIVER AIRBAG IGNITOR LOOP 1ST STGE-RESISTANCE-CURRENT ABOVE NORMAL OR GROUND

HAVE A 2020 NEW CASCADIA (VIN LE2318) WITH 107K MILES ON UNIT. THIS CODE HAS CME ACTIVE
AND CANNOT FIND TROUBLESHOOTING OR ANY SOLUTIONS ON CODE, CAN ONLY FIND COD 4814
NOT 4818. REQUESTING FURTHER ASSISTANCE.

I'm not seeing either code in the P4 troubleshooting manual. What source address (SA) is reporting code
4818/6.
Before performing any work on the SRS please read the warnings in the P4 workshop manual, section 91.02
Air Bag Sensor Module. Do NOT try to test the resistance of the air bag directly nor through the wiring.
The igniter loop would be wires 454+ and 454- circuited between the SRS crash sensors, yours is
A18-69280-000 located under /behind the drivers seat and the air bag 14-19562-001 located in the steering
wheel.. See G66-07541-001 Do NOT try to test the resistance of the air bag directly nor through the wiring.

With my VOM in hand, I asked another tech to climb in the Sprinter Van and press the city horn so I could test
the circuit.
After hearing the horn toot he felt the need to tell me "I think it's working now".
Me, "I know, I just finished the Takata air bag recall".

On a more serious note, Yes.
Feedback a safety course specific to working around SRS (a pyrotechnic inflator device) is a great
idea.

The P4 workshop manual has safety precautions section 060 for the Rolltek system under 91.03 but does not
have a safety precautions section 060 under 91.02 Air Bag Sensor Module. FYI, I did provide feedback on this
from the manuals feedback link.

I think the post all about diagnostic on these air bag codes is gone.
I made a resister for this, per what the air bag tech support mentioned, 3 ohm? I’d have to check
when I get to work. But you unplug the airbag circuit (Yellow two pin connector) at the air bag
sensor (behind the seat). Install this resister and if code is still there, it needs a airbag sensor.
DON’T MEASURE RESISTANCE OF THE AIRBAG. IN THEORY IT COULD CAUSE IT TO GO OFF.
The two pin yellow connectors short themselves out when unplugged as a safety.

On these systems, I have had most common the air bag sensor being the cause of codes. A couple of times a
new airbag was the cause and once a spread terminal in the yellow connector at the air bag ecu.
There is another yellow connector at the driver lower a pillar area as well.
i use a 0-60 inlb Beam type torque wrench to torque the air bag to the steering wheel. I don’t
recall the torque spec. Would certainly look it up in parts pro or service lit.

I’m pretty sure we have dealt with a 4818 code before which I can’t find anymore either. The resistor should be
2.2 ohms for checking air bag circuits. I remove the terminals in the connector to isolate them.

FYI, I have a 4818/5 and troubleshooting is still present in Cascadia Manual.

The only thing that this troubleshooting fails to mention is the air bag wiring from the Rolltek module to the
clock spring utilizes special connectors that are yellow in color. When these connectors are disconnected,
both the 454A+ and 454A- wires will appear shorted to each other. The terminals need to be removed from the
connectors to isolate each wire.
