TITLE: McLaren P1™ Exhaust Muffler Bracket Replacement

DOCUMENT NUMBER: 12 H 001

AFFECTED VEHICLES: McLaren P1™

SITUATION: McLaren Automotive have identified that the lower exhaust muffler trim

bracket might fatigue and fail, causing the trim to rattle against the exhaust
muffler. As a result, the original welded bracket has to be replaced with a new
bracket which is bolted to the muffler.

Care Point: This bulletin can only be carried out in one of the following
situations:

e Customer complaint for rattle due to the bracket failure.
° Rear Clam is removed for another repair.
° Rear Clam is removed as part of an annual service.

PROCEDURE: Please follow the instructions outlined in this document to replace the exhaust
muffler trim bracket.

6. Place the new bracket 12HAOO1MP (3) in the position shown in the picture below. Ensure the bracket is located in the
middle of the two strengthening ribs (4) and 88mm from the end of the muffler.

7. With a permanent marker pen mark the centre of the two holes to the muffler.

8. Remove the bracket and use a Centre Punch Tool to mark the centre of the pen marks that were created at Step 7.

9. Drill two pilot holes.

Care Point: The exhaust is made from a very strong material (Inconel) so Cobalt or Tungsten Carbide drill bits are re-
quired to drill the holes.

Care Point: Do not attempt to drill the 6.5mm diameter holes with the same size drill bit as this will damage the drill bit and
the part. Start with a 2.5mm diameter drill bit, then 4.5mm and finish with 6.5mm drill bit to achieve the 6.5mm holes.

10. Drill two holes of 6.5mm diameter.

11. Insert new fixing bolts (OORA310) through from the inside of the exhaust muffler (5).

12. Attach the new bracket with washers (OORCO77) and nuts (OORA511) (6) and torque to 8Nm.

Installation:

13. Install components in reverse order as per BA-RM-05H001-02-001 - Remove/install muffler.
