Model Year vehicles manufactured from November 1, 2017 to May
15, 2019.

Our records indicate that you are the owner of certain vehicles. DTNA is requesting that the M20 fastener used
to attach the steer axle spring to the forward spring hanger be inspected on these vehicles.

Subject: Steer Axle Spring to Front Hanger
Fastener Inspection
Models Affected: New Cascadia, 2018, 2019 & 2020 Model Year
vehicles manufactured from November 1, 2017 to May 15, 2019.

Inspection Instructions
1.

Park the vehicle on a level surface, shut down the engine, and set the parking brake. Chock the rear tires.

2.

Locate the M20 fastener that attaches the steer axle spring to the spring hanger. See Fig. 1.

NOTE: Complete the inspection on both the left and right hand springs.

Viewing the fastener from the underside of the front spring hanger bracket, visually inspect for the following:

Inspect and verify that the M20 nut located on the inside of the hanger bracket is in place. See Fig. 2

Inspect for any gaps between the bolt head and hanger bracket and between the nut and hanger
bracket indicating a loose fastener. See Fig. 3.

Check to determine if either part of the M20 nut and bolt assembly can be freely rotated by hand or
with a wrench. See Fig. 4.

CAUTION
CAUTION: Any truck that does not pass inspection should be taken out of service to have the fasteners
replaced by an authorized dealer.

Record the serial number, mileage, and the date and results of the inspection as follows:
4.1

On vehicles where the M20 nut is found to be missing, record the serial number, mileage, and date of
the inspection along with photos of the joint (left-hand side, right-hand side or both).

4.2

On vehicles where a gap is found at the nut and/or the bolt head, record the serial number, mileage,
and date of the inspection along with photos of the joint showing the gap (left-hand side, right-hand
side or both).

4.3

On vehicles where it is possible to rotate a fastener, record the serial number, mileage, and date of
the inspection along with photos of the joint that rotated (left-hand side, right-hand side or both).

4.4

On vehicles where no problem is found, record the SN, mileage, and date of the inspection with the
comment: “No problem found.”

Email the results of each truck inspected to your DTNA District Service Manager.
