CONDITION SUMMARY:

SITUATION:
An issue has been identified on a limited number of Land Rover vehicles within the
listed Affected Vehicle Range where a tapping sound may be heard, on one or both
sides of the vehicle, from the A-pillar area at speeds of approximately 37-75mph (60120 km/h).
ACTION:
Retailers are required to HOLD affected new vehicles that are within your control and
refrain from releasing the vehicles for new vehicle sale pending completion of the
procedure(s) detailed in this Technical Bulletin. Unsold vehicles should have this
performed as part of the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) process but must have it
completed prior to vehicle handover to the customer.
Affected vehicles already in the hands of customers should be updated at the next
available opportunity.

and Service Actions are identified to make sure the correct parts are available and
adequate workshop time is allocated for repairs to be completed at one visit.
Warranty claims must be submitted quoting the Program Code and the relevant
Option Code; this will result in payment of the stated time. The SRO and parts
information is included for information only. The Option Code(s) that allows for the
drive in/drive out allowance may only be claimed if the vehicle is brought back into the
workshop for this action alone to be undertaken.

CAUTION:
Extra care must be taken not to damage the windshield molding bolt
cover.

NOTE:
Right windshield molding bolt cover shown; left windshield molding
bolt cover similar.

View the video and then remove the left windshield molding bolt cover.
◦

1.

Release clip closest to the door first in the direction shown.

◦

2.

Release second clip by pulling the bolt cover away from the vehicle in a
forward direction.

CAUTIONS:
◾ Extra care must be taken not to damage the windshield molding.
◾ Do not use tools during this operation; removal of the component
must be completed by hand.

*

Remove the retaining bolt and then remove the left windshield molding.
◦

1.

Pull the windshield molding down in the direction shown.

◦

2.

Release the windshield molding from the vehicle by pulling in a forward
direction.

Locate the 11 windshield molding retaining ribs as shown highlighted.
◦

Clean the area around each windshield molding retaining rib.

◦

Apply felt tape to cover each of the 11 windshield molding retaining
ribs as shown.

Install the windshield molding in the directions shown.
◦

Do not fully tighten the retaining bolt at this stage.

6.

Apply downward pressure onto the left windshield molding and fully tighten
the retaining bolt.
◦

Torque: 6 Nm

NOTES:
◾ If a new windshield molding bolt cover is required, it must be
painted before installing.
◾ When installing the windshield molding bolt cover, make sure an
audible click is heard.
◾ When installing the windshield molding bolt cover, make sure it is
flush with the windshield molding.



Inspect the retaining clip on the left windshield molding bolt cover.
◦

If the retaining clip is broken (as shown highlighted), install a new
left windshield molding bolt cover during the next step.

◦

If the retaining clip is not broken, install the original left
windshield molding bolt cover during the next step.

Close the front left door.

10.

Repeat steps 1-9 to the right windshield molding bolt cover.
