SUBJECT:
Oil pressure sensor machining defect.
MODELS INVOLVED:
Certain IC Bus® CE school buses built 06 May 2020 through 25 June 2020.
DEFECT DESCRIPTION:
Certain IC Bus® CE school buses equipped with PSI gasoline or propane engines may
have engine blocks without the counterbore machined where the oil pressure sensor is
installed. No counterbore actions are required. If counterbore is not present or
undersized, a new adapter needs to be installed.
ELIGIBILITY:
This procedure applies ONLY to vehicles marked in the International® Service PortalSM
with FSC 20110. Also complete any other open campaigns listed on the Service Portal
at this time.
TOOLS REQUIRED:
No special tools required.

NOTE: Oil pressure sensor adapters were shipped free of charge to dealers with
buses affected by this field service campaign. Part number listed below is for
reference only.

WORK INSTRUCTIONS
GOVERNMENT REGULATION: Engine fluid (oil, fuel, and coolant) may be a
hazard to human health and the environment. Handle all fluid and other
contaminated materials (such as filters and rags) in accordance with applicable
regulations. Recycle or dispose of engine fluids, filters, and other contaminated
materials according to applicable regulations.
WARNING! To prevent personal injury and / or death, or damage to property, park
vehicle on hard flat surface, turn the engine off, set the parking brake, and install
wheel chocks to prevent the vehicle from moving in both directions.
WARNING! To prevent personal injury and / or death, always wear safe eye
protection when performing vehicle maintenance.
WARNING! To prevent personal injury and / or death, or damage to property, keep
flames or sparks away from vehicle and do not smoke while servicing the
vehicle’s batteries. Batteries expel explosive gases.

1. Park vehicle on a flat surface.
2. Shift transmission to Park or Neutral and set parking brake.
3. Turn ignition to Key OFF position.
4. Install wheel chocks.
5. Unlatch and open hood.
6. Locate heat shield over oil pressure harness and oil pressure sender. Move heat
shield to expose oil sender and connector.

7. Inspect counterbore.

If counterbore absent or undersized (Figure 1, Item 1), continue with Step 8.

b.

If counterbore present and correctly sized (Figure 1, Item 2), go to Step 19.

8. Disconnect electrical connector from oil pressure sensor.
9. Using 15/16-inch socket and ratchet, remove oil pressure sensor and oil pressure
sensor adapter from block. Set aside oil pressure sensor. Properly dispose of old oil
pressure sensor adapter.
NOTE: Ensure O-ring on new oil pressure sensor adapter is free of cuts and / or
other deformities.
10. Hand start new oil pressure sensor adapter into block.
11. Using 1 1/16-inch socket and a torque wrench, tighten adapter to 30 lb-in (1.26
N•m).
12. Hand start oil pressure sensor (previously set aside) into adapter.
13. Using 15/16-inch socket and a torque wrench, tighten sensor to 22 lb-in (0.92 N•m).
14. Reconnect electrical connector to oil pressure sensor.

15. Using appropriate cleaning solution and compressed air, remove any residual oil
between fitting and block.
16. Turn ignition to Key ON, Engine RUNNING.
17. Inspect for leaks.
18. Turn ignition to Key OFF position.
19. Slide heat shield over oil pressure sender.
20. Close and latch hood.
21. Remove wheel chocks.

WARRANTY CLAIMS

Warranty claim expense is to be charged to Warranty. Claims are to be submitted in the
normal manner, making reference to Field Service Campaign 20110.
Section 7 of the Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual contains further information
related to the submission and processing of AFC / Recall claims.
As with all claim submissions, items acquired locally must be submitted in the “Other
Charges” tab. The cost of any bulk items (such as a bag of cable tie straps, roll of wire,
barrel of oil, or tube of silicone) should be prorated for the cost of the individual pieces /
amount used during each repair.

To make sure this important improvement is made in a timely manner, all claims for
20110 activity must be submitted by 23 July 2021 or within the normal warranty period
for the component repaired, if after 23 July 2021.
