Complaint:
The following complaints may be noted:
- The time/date and trip computer may reset automatically and without obvious cause (Note: On vehicles equipped
with navigation, following a reset, the instrument cluster time/date will re-sync with the head unit and correct itself)
- The check engine light may be present or may have been present in the instrument cluster with DTC P261029,
P02FF02, or P02FF85 stored in the engine control unit (N3/10, see attachment for example).

Cause:
Hardware or software in the Entry instrument cluster (vehicle without code 464)
Remedy:
Pre-facelift vehicles: BR205 up to and including code 808, BR253 up to and including code 809 (not code 800)
- For 205/253 non-AMG variants, Entry instrument cluster, please perform a software update (E20.3) of the instrument
cluster control unit (A1).
- For 205/253 AMG variants Entry instrument cluster (with AMG logo), replace the instrument cluster (A1).
- For 253 Hybrid variants, Entry instrument cluster, perform a software update of the instrument cluster control unit
(A1)
Note: If no other DTCs are present and there are no additional complaints the DTC referenced can then be cleared
and the vehicle can be released to the customer until the part arrives

253: Please perform a software update (E44.4 or E47.0, software object numbers A2059022029 or A2059022329) of
instrument cluster control unit (A1).
- For 205/253 AMG variants, Entry instrument cluster (only with AMG logo):
205: Perform a software update (E38.1) of instrument cluster control unit (A1).
253: Perform a software update (E44.0) of instrument cluster control unit (A1).
If the complaint continues to occur after the above corresponding remedy is applied then please open a PTSS case
with the following information:
- Initial quick test
- IC, ME, and PTCU control unit logs
- Currently installed instrument cluster (A1) part number
