DESCRIPTION
This article is for RE Buses that may be experiencing excessive noise in front spring suspension, or seeing the liners/spacers on
the front spring assembly protruding or missing.

To prevent unexpected movement of the vehicle and possible serious personal injury or
death, part the vehicle on a flat, level surface, set the parking brake, turn the engine off,
and chock the wheels to prevent the vehicle from moving in both directions.
To prevent injury, always wear your appropriate PPE when you perform vehicle
maintenance or service.

REPAIR STEP(s)
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
Note: Springs should be handled as carefully as possible to minimize chipping and scratching of the paint.

1. Remove Spring assembly from bus
2. Lay assembly on its side, clamp the seat area, see Figure 1, using a large C clamp (do not clamp surface of the spring)
3. Use vice-grip on bolt head to prevent from spinning
4. Use impact wrench to remove the nut, and remove center bolt. Save parts for installation steps.
5. Unclamp seat and take leaf 1 and 2 apart
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:

1. Using Leaf 1, apply Primer 94 to remove oil on eye section of spring
2. Apply 3 strips of adhesive tape on top of the eyes on both ends as shown in Figure 2 above
3. Press in the Cliner into place over the tape

4. Reassemble Leaf 1 and 2 together by clamping the seat back in place(reference Figure 1). Note: Make sure liners,
brackets and leafs are all square prior to final assembly.
5. Install center bolt and nut, torque to 80 ftlbs.
6. Reinstall leaf spring assembly to bus.
