Altec Industries, Inc. has developed a product improvement which relates to certain TS336-BW Tensioners built from May 2018 to March 2020.
Refer to SIL 759 for items covered under the warranty policy. Altec will supply necessary parts to correct
this condition.
In order to determine if your unit is affected by SIL 759, compare the serial number of your unit with the list of
affected units as described on the SIL. The product improvement can be performed by the customer or you may
contact Altec at 1-877-GO-ALTEC (1-877-462-5832) for further assistance.

determine if there are any other outstanding notices.

Fuel Hose Inspection
Altec is committed to providing our customers reliable products from initial delivery throughout
the useful life of the machine.
Altec has discovered that some of the fuel hoses used on tensioner engines do not meet the proper specifications. While the fuel hose is not a safety concern, the hose does not meet the EPA
permeation requirements per 40 CFR 1048.105. It is extremely important for the correct fuel
line to be installed to minimize emissions to the atmosphere from vapor permeation through the
body of the fuel line. Understanding the importance of this regulatory requirement, Altec and its
customers will make a concerted effort to repair the units in a timely manner.
Altec requires that the fuel lines on each unit be inspected for the correct type. The inspection
must be completed no later than the next periodic maintenance interval or 90 days from the receipt of this SIL, whichever comes first. Use the inspection procedure beginning on page 2.
If the hose is found to be the incorrect material, it must be replaced. Order the Hose Replacement
Kit, part number 991077881, by calling 1-877-GO ALTEC (1-877-462-5832).
This repair is covered under the Altec Warranty Policy and can be performed by Altec, the customer, or the customer’s warranty provider. Altec will perform the repair for free at an Altec
facility. If the customer, or the customer’s warranty provider performs the inspection and the
repair, a warranty claim must be submitted to be reimbursed for the cost of the parts and/or labor.
Altec will allow up to $90 for the inspection and up to $90 for the labor to perform this repair.
Call 1-877-GO ALTEC (1-877-462-5832) to schedule the work to be done by an Altec service
technician. Customers are responsible for the travel costs of an Altec Mobile Service technician
if the technician performs the inspection or repair at the owner’s location.

Inspection Procedure
Normal mechanic’s hand tools are required for this inspection. Read and understand all steps of
the instructions before beginning the procedure.
1. Park the tensioner on a level surface and
chock the wheels. Ensure the unit is stabilized by one of the following methods.
• Leave the tensioner attached to the tow
vehicle.
• If the tensioner is not attached to a tow
vehicle, extend the front jack and both
rear jacks to the ground.

2. Locate the two fuel hoses on the top of
the fuel tank (refer to Figure 1). One hose
is the fuel supply hose and the other is the
fuel purge hose.
3. Remove any plastic cable ties or clamps
that hold the hoses in place as necessary
to see the printing on both sides of the
hoses.

4. Inspect the printing on the hose and determine which condition occurs.
• Correct hose will have Continental 1/4" (6.4mm) FUEL INJECTION HOSE - SAE
J30R9 in white lettering on one side and lot code information in white lettering on the other
side (refer to Figure 2).
• Incorrect hose will have GATES 1/4" PVC/EEC on one side.

5. Proceed based on the inspection results.
• If the hose is correct (same as shown in Figure 2), complete and return the Inspection
Sheet on the last page to document completion.
• If the hose is incorrect, order the Hose Replacement Kit, part number
991077881, and install the kit no later than 30 days from the inspection. Do not return the
Inspection Sheet on the last page of this SIL

6. Install new plastic cable ties and/or reinstall the cable clamps to hold the hoses in place.
7. Return the unit to service.
