M1517: MILWAUKEE-EIGHT ENGINE - CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR
Crankshaft Position Sensor Extra
Information

Purpose for Service Bulletin
To notify dealers of a Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor change
for 2017-2020 vehicles equipped with a Milwaukee-Eight®
(MKE-8) powertrain.
Changing to the new CKP Sensor from the previous design as
an update is not a warrantable event.

Motorcycles Affected

• See Figure 1. The CKP Sensor body is white in color.
• See Figure 2. Some discoloration (1) and sensor body
doming (2) may be noted over time and occurs with engine
heat cycles. This is not grounds for replacement or signs of
a sensor defect.
• If a sensor is suspected of being defective, follow the
diagnostic steps outlined within the Electrical Diagnostic
Manual (EDM) for the appropriate model and model year of
the vehicle being repaired.

All vehicles from 2017-2020 equipped with a MKE-8.
