General Information
NOTE: New Cascadia vehicles and the first generation Cascadias have entirely different ABS architecture.
Due to the enhanced vigilance of the New Cascadia ABS controller, some fault codes and indicator lights do not
necessarily require immediate maintenance attention. DTNA and WABCO are currently jointly working on a
long-term corrective plan for the condition.
This short-term corrective action procedure clears an unexpected trap handler fault (629/11). However, the
system must pass all safety-related self-diagnostic routines at initialization of the ABS system for the ABS
lamp(s) to extinguish. The procedure will not erase, remove, or disable ABS fault indication that is stored over a
key cycle and/or battery cycle.
If the corrective action procedure is successful, the vehicle does not need to be routed to a service facility.
If the indicator lights remain active, a different situation exists in the ABS functionality of either the tractor,
trailer, or both. The vehicle will need to be inspected at an appropriate service facility.

Corrective Action
If a driver experiences loss of cruise control and either or both of the ABS warning telltales appear (see Fig. 1)
as well as the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Unavailable pop-up (see Fig. 2) and the Active Brake Assist
(ABA) Alert pop-up Fig. 3), pull over safely at the nearest convenient stop or the next planned stop.

To verify if these are legitimate warnings, perform the following steps in order:
1.

Set the parking brakes for both the tractor and the trailer.

2.

Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

3.

If equipped, turn the cab load disconnect switch (CLDS) to the OFF position

4.

Wait a minimum of 30 seconds.

5.

If equipped, turn the cab load disconnect switch (CLDS) to the ON position.

6.

Turn the key to the ON position and verify, after an ICU self-check, that the ABS warning telltales do not
remain illuminated.

7.

If a code remains after cycling, the vehicle may need to be driven for up to 15 mph (24 kph) to clear it.

8.

If the indicator lights remain active after the vehicle is driven up to 15 mph (24 kph), a different situation
exists in the ABS functionality of either the tractor, trailer, or both. The vehicle will need to be inspected at
an appropriate service facility.
