SUBJECT:
Inspect Hydraulic Belt Tensioner
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves inspecting the Julian date on the hydraulic belt tensioner for possible
replacement.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: North
America.
NOTE: This bulletin applies to the following vehicles built on or after December 13, 2019
(MDH 1213XX) on or before January 25, 2020 (MDH 0125XX) equipped with a 3.6L V6
24V VVT E-torque Engine Upgrade I (Sales Code ERG).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Customers may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Upon further
investigation the technician may find that the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) have been
set:
• P2BA3-00 - Starter/Generator Mechanical Performance.
• P0A92-00 -Hybrid Generator Performance.
Customers may also experience the following:
• Dead battery.
• The accessory drive belt may be slipping or belt noise.

DIAGNOSIS:
If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. This RRT only applies
to vehicles on the RRT VIN list.
NOTE: Only vehicles with this (15.08.19) Julian date code on the hydraulic belt tensioner
should be replaced any other Julian date code is a good component.
1. Inspect the for this (15.08.19) Julian date on the hydraulic belt tensioner.
NOTE: It may be necessary to use a flashlight and mirror in order to see the Julian date.
2. Does the tensioner have this six digit stamped Julian date (15.08.19) on the front of the
hydraulic belt tensioner (Fig. 1) ?
• YES>>> Proceed to Step 1 of the Repair Procedure.
• NO>>> This bulletin has been completed, use inspect LOP (07-20-18-95) to close the active
RRT, normal diagnosis maybe necessary for the MIL light if the Julian date code is not
(15.08.19).

1. Replace the hydraulic belt tensioner. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in
DealerCONNECT/Service Library under: Service Info>07 - Cooling / Accessory Drive /
Tensioner, Belt / Removal and Installation (Fig. 2) .
2. Clear any DTCs that may have been set.
