Dealers must perform this Service Campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail delivery
and whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair.
When a vehicle arrives at the Service Department, access Hyundai Motor America's "Vehicle
Information Screen” via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns.
Description: Some 2019-2020 Nexo (FE), and 2020 Palisade (LX2) vehicles equipped with the power
tailgate may not operate. This bulletin provides the service procedure to inspect and when necessary
perform the power tailgate spindle wire harness revision.

Applicable Vehicles: Certain 2019 - 2020 Nexo (FE), and 2020 Palisade (LX2) equipped with power
tailgate.

NOTE 1: Submit Claim on Campaign Claim Entry Screen
NOTE 2: If a part is found in need of replacement while performing Service Campaign T4X and the
affected part is still under warranty, submit a separate warranty claim using the same Repair
Order. If the affected part is out of warranty, submit a Prior Approval Request for goodwill
consideration prior to performing the work.

POWER TAILGATE SPINDLE WIRE HARNESS INSPECTION
1.

Open the tailgate to inspect the LH/RH power
tailgate spindle wiring harness (A).

Remove the rubber grommet (B) of the tailgate
spindle wiring harness and inspect the material.

If the wire harness has a metallic shield (C), no
further action is required.
If the wire harness shield does not have the
metallic shield, perform the power tailgate
spindle wire harness enhancement on page 4.

Avoid twisting
the wire

NOTICE
After inspecting the power tailgate spindle
wire harness, reinstall and ensure the wire
harness is not twisted (D) as shown in the
picture to the right.

POWER TAILGATE SPINDLE WIRE HARNESS ENHANCEMENT

NOTICE
The tailgate spindle wire harness enhancement requires an injection of 0.2ml of Loctite 401
into the left side spindle wire harness sleeve and 0.2ml into the right side spindle wire
harness sleeve.
1.

Remove the Loctite 401 outer cap by performing
the following procedure:
1. Align the top / bottom (A) of the cap as
shown in the picture (B).
2. Remove the cap by pulling upward.

Remove the Loctite 401 inner cap (C) by turning
it counterclockwise.

Fill the syringe with 0.4ml (D) of Loctite.

Slowly press the plunger (E) inward, to remove
any air from the syringe.

Carefully insert the syringe into the spindle wire
harness sleeve approximately .5 inches away
from the spindle (F). Inject 0.2ml of Loctite 401
into one side of the spindle wire harness, and
the remaining 0.2ml into the other side.

CAUTION

Be careful not to pierce the wire. Inject
the Loctite 401 into the wire harness
sleeve only.
Be careful to not spill the Loctite 401
liquid onto the vehicle’s paint surface.

6.

Close the tailgate after injecting the Loctite 401
into both the left and right side spindle wire
harness sleeves.

7.

Properly dispose the syringe by placing it in the
appropriate disposal container.
