Information:

The yellow warning message "Brake pads worn - Change brake pads - Driving permitted" appears in the
instrument cluster. It turns out, however, that the front wear indicator cables have a loose contact or are
torn.
Information
The wear indicator cables can catch on the screw on the shock absorber fork when the steering wheel is
turned fully and the spring strut is extended.

Remedial
Action:

•

Change installation direction of the screws securing the front shock absorber forks at the left and
right.
Replace wear indicator cables.

Replacing screws on shock absorber forks
Work Procedure:

Information
The procedure for removing and installing is described for one side as an example. The procedure
for the other side is practically identical.

Lift the wheel bearing housing up slightly using lifting equipment (e.g. engine and gearbox jack).

Remove screws securing shock absorber fork 
Shock absorber fork screws -1- to the spring strut.

Insert new screws securing shock absorber fork

 Shock absorber fork screws -1- to the spring
strut in the opposite direction to the installation
direction shown in the illustration and tighten
them.
Initial tightening 40 Nm (30 ftlb.)
Final tightening +180°

Lower the wheel bearing housing and remove lifting
equipment.

Unlock and disconnect electric plug connection 
Front brake calliper -2-.

Unclip wear indicator cable from the brake calliper 
Front brake calliper -1-.

Clip in new wear indicator cable.

Connect and lock electric plug connection  Front
brake calliper -2-.
