Condition
Some customers may comment that the MIL is Illuminated.
Some technicians may find one or more of the following DTCs set in the Transmission
Control Module (TCM):
• P0746: Transmission Control Solenoid Valve 1 Stuck Off
• P0776: Transmission Control Solenoid Valve 2 Stuck Off
Cause
This condition may be caused by an internal failure in the transmission fluid pressure
sensors or fluid pressure condition.

Install MDI and connect to GDS2.
Clear DTCs.
Monitor TCM data, primary and secondary pulley pressures.
Operate vehicle to at least 140°F (60°C), transmission fluid temperature.
Are both actual primary and secondary pulley pressures less than 200 kPa?:
• If No, continue to step 6.
• If Yes, go to step 8.
6. Is actual primary pulley pressure 0 kPa?:
• If Yes, replace the primary and secondary pressure sensor.
• If No, continue to step 7.
7. Is actual secondary pulley pressure 0 kPa?:
• If Yes, replace the primary and secondary pressure sensor.
• If No, continue to step 8.
8. Check the actual pulley pressure value during Drive/Reverse/Park/ with brake
applied.
9. Select Drive and read actual pulley pressure values:
• If both pulleys read greater than 0 kPa but less than 200 kPa, inspect
transmission drive fluid circuit for leaks/damaged seals.
• If pressure is greater than 200 KPA , continue with Step 10.
10. Select Reverse and read actual pulley pressure values:
• If both pulleys read greater than 0 kPa but less than 200 kPa, inspect
transmission reverse fluid circuit for leaks/damaged seals.
• If pressure is greater than 200 KPA , continue with Step 11.
11. Select Park and read actual pulley pressure values:
• If both pulleys read greater than 0 kPa but less than 200 kPa, replace Control
Valve Body (not solenoid body).
• If pressure is greater than 200 KPA, continue with procedure.
If the above diagnostics do not identify the concern, and the MIL does not reset, the
condition may be caused by a sticking valve or solenoid not operating properly.

Replacement in SI.
Important: Replace the sensors one at a time and
torque bolts to specification before doing the other
sensor. This will maintain the valve body to spacer
plate seal.
