Condition

Some customers may comment that the MIL is illuminated.
The technician may find one or more of the following DTCs set:
• P059F
• U1501
• U1510
• U1511

Cause

This condition may be caused by the following conditions:
• Snow and/or ice buildup in the front lower grille area of the vehicle, which could
prevent the active aero shutters from opening or closing.
• Loose connection of the front fascia harness (HARNESS, FRT OBJECT ALARM
SEN WR).
• Possible high resistance with the front fascia harness.
Note: Do Not replace the front object alarm wrg harness until an inspection, diagnosis
and testing of the shutters has been completed.

Correction

If the above inspection did not find any signs of previous snow or ice in the active shutter
system, validation of the front fascia wiring harnesses condition will be required.

Parts Information
Refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) to
determine the proper part numbers required for the
front object alarm wiring harness, if replacement is
required.

For vehicles repaired under the base emission warranty
coverage (code E), use the following labor operation.

1. Verify nothing is obstructing the shutters.
2. Verify proper shutter operation.
• If the above inspection and testing did not find
any damage and there are signs of previous
snow or ice in the active shutter system, Do Not
proceed with this procedure.
• If the shutter operation has failed testing,
proceed with the procedure.
3. Follow SI diagnostics for set DTC.
4. Remove the front bumper fascia (3). Refer to the
appropriate Front Bumper Fascia Replacement
in SI.
5. Verify condition and the integrity of the connection
of front fascia harness to headlamp wire harness
(1) and shutter actuator (2).
6. If required, replace the front fascia harness.
7. Reinstall the front bumper fascia. Refer to the
appropriate Front Bumper Fascia Replacement
in SI.
8. Verify proper shutter operation.
• If the active shutters wiring harness has been
found not to be the cause of the DTCs set, refer
to SI for further diagnostics.
