SUBJECT:
Intermittent No Crank No Start
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves inspecting the ground wire to engine block fastener and replacing if necessary.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: North
America.
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or after September 09, 2019 (MDH 0909XX)
and on or before December 18, 2019 (MDH 1218XX) equipped with a 3.0L V6 Turbo
Diesel Engine GEN 3 (Sales Code EXH).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may comment on the following:
• A no start and/or intermittent no start condition.

DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Diagnosis Procedure.
1. Inspect the bolt securing the ground terminal from the battery negative to the engine block
(Ground G0A). Do this by wiggling the cable to see if it is loose.(Fig. 1) .

2. Is the ground terminal loose?
• YES>>> Proceed to Step 1 of the Repair Procedure.
• NO>>> This Bulletin does not apply, use inspect LOP (08-08-15-90) to close the active RRT.
Normal diagnosis should be performed.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Disconnect the battery. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/
Service Library under: Service Info>08 - Electrical / 8F - Engine Systems / Battery System /
Standard Procedure> Battery Disconnect and Connect.
2. Remove and discard the bolt securing the ground terminal from the battery negative to the
engine block.

Install the new bolt securing the ground terminal from the battery negative cable to the engine
block. Tighten the bolt to 30 N·m (22 ft lbs.).
4. Reconnect the battery. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/
Service Library under: Service Info>08 - Electrical / 8F - Engine Systems / Battery System /
Standard Procedure> Battery Disconnect and Connect.
