Introduction
All 2018 – 2020 model year LC500 and LC500h vehicles are equipped with high-friction brake
pads, specifically designed for superior braking performance and response. As a result, the front
or rear brakes may exhibit a squeal/squeak noise.
For customers who find these characteristics objectionable, brake pads with alternative material
are now available as service parts.
NOTE
Any changes made to the brake pad material may result in altered and possibly reduced braking
performance and/or feeling under certain driving conditions, including track use.
Please note disclosures stated in the LC500 and LC500h sales information, both in print form and
online, and discuss with the customer before installing the alternate brake pads listed in this
Service Bulletin.
It is an inherent characteristic of materials and design of brake pads used in this high-performance
brake system that brake squeal/squeak noise may result.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
This repair is covered under the Lexus Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48
months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.
Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in
this bulletin.
NOTE
Choose the correct OFP for the vehicle being repaired by searching brake pad (04465/04466) in the EPC
using the EPC VIN filter. Warranty claims MUST be submitted with the correct OFP with 10 digits.

Repair Procedure
Confirm a squeal/squeak noise is present from either the front or rear brake pads.
NOTE
Brake squeal/squeak noise may be more likely at slower speeds or in Reverse.
Use ChassisEAR™ if necessary to help identify the source of the noise.
Is a squeal/squeak noise coming from either the front or rear brake pads?
YES — Continue to step 2.
NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.
Replace BOTH front and rear brake pad kits.
NOTICE
Regardless of the location of the squeal/squeak noise, BOTH front and rear brake pad kits
MUST be replaced to effectively address the condition.
A. Remove the front and rear brake pad kits.
