The initial setup process of the Navigator Pro Controller involves assignment of the controller to a valve. When
assigning a valve to the controller, the appropriate valve is selected from a “Valve Assignment” list. Akron
Brass is aware of a limited number of instances where once assigned, and after a power cycle, the valve may
intermittently not re-appear on the “Valve Assignment” list. In this case, the controller will stay on the “Valve
Assignment”, or “Identifying Valve” screen during power up, and will be unable to communicate with the valve.
In this event, the valve assignment can be manually reset by cycling the power. The valve may also be operated
manually through the use of the manual override at all times.
Although the likelihood of experiencing this condition is small, Akron Brass Company is recommending
updating to firmware version 1.5 to eliminate this possibility.
NOTE: Updating firmware will not overwrite valve assignments, calibrations, or configurations.
Obtain Latest Firmware
1. Go to the URLs below based on what style number is being updated.

2. Select the “Style 9333 & 9335 Navigation Pro System File Rev. 1.5” link and save file “9335001_R1-5.abs to
the root directory of a USB flash drive.
3. Select the “9321 / 6064 Motor Driver System Software 1-10” link and save file “93210001_R1-10.abs” to
the root directory of a USB flash drive.

Update via USB port
1. Turn off power to the 9333/9335 and gain access to the back of the controller.
2.

Remove the two screws holding the cover over the USB port and remove the cover. Retain for re-assembly
after update.

3. Insert the USB flash drive and turn on power to the 9333/9335 and 9321 Motor Driver.
4. The update may take up to 30 seconds, so do not remove power until update completes.

5. To update the motor driver, navigate to the setup menu, select OEM CONFIGURATION and the VALVE
DOWNLOAD. Press ENTER. Select YES to download the new file. The display will show download progress
and will prompt you to remove the USB flash drive when completed
6. To verify the update completed successfully, navigate to the “About” screen from the user menu as follows:
a. Press and hold the right gray button under the “MENU” item on the bottom right of the
screen. The “MENU” item on the screen will begin to blink several times then stop. Release the
button.
b. The “Root Menu” is now displayed. Press the green “Open” button three times to advance the
cursor down so that the “About” item is highlighted.
c. Press and release the right gray button under the “ENTER” item on the bottom right of the
screen. This will display the “About” Screen that has the firmware information on it. Verify
9333/9335 firmware is at 1.5 and 9321 Motor Driver firmware is at 1-10.
7. Replace the USB port cover and fasten two screws securely. Do not overtighten.
