Dealers must perform this Service Campaign on all affected vehicles whenever an affected vehicle
is in the shop for any maintenance or repair.
When a vehicle arrives at the Service Department, access Hyundai Motor America's "Warranty
Vehicle Information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns.
Description:
This bulletin provides the procedure to inspect the evaporative system’s existing canister for loose
charcoal, and if confirmed the new Auxiliary Canister Kit of this bulletin will be installed to improve
evaporative system performance. The existing canister will not be replaced.
APPLICABLE VEHICLES: All 2010-2015 Tucson (LM) 2.4L Engine with ULEV emissions.

NOTE 2: If a part is found in need of replacement while performing this Service Campaign and the affected
part is still under warranty, submit a separate claim using the same Repair Order Number and the same Causal
Part Number as the Campaign Claim. If the affected part is out of warranty, submit a Prior Approval Request
for goodwill consideration prior to performing the work.

Service Procedure:
1.

Confirm the vehicle’s emission underhood
label includes “ULEV”.

2.

Lift up the vehicle and locate the position of the
canister.

Canister Inspection Step:
Place the handle end of a rubber hammer to
the canister right edge as shown in the picture.
Tap the hammer head rapidly at an
approximate rate of 10 times over 2 seconds
and inspect for noise inside the canister.
PASS:
 Only rubber hammer hitting noise and
canister body vibration is heard.
 Service Procedure is complete with
Inspection only performed.
NO PASS:
 Loose charcoal shaking noise is heard from
inside the canister. (NOTE: It may sound
similar to sand shaking around)
 Proceed to additional steps below to
install the Auxiliary Canister Kit.

4.

Check the position of the Canister Close Valve
(CCV).

5.

Remove the CCV extension wire clip.

Disconnect the vapor hose from the CCV using
needle nose pliers.

7.

Insert the supplied hose from the Auxiliary
Canister Kit to the CCV and secure the clamp
in place.

8.

Install the supplied auxiliary canister to the left
hand fuel tank band and temporary tighten the
bolts.

9.

Connect the existing vapor hose to the
auxiliary canister nipple.
NOTE: Remove the existing clamp and install
the supplied clamp.

10. Connect the supplied hose to the bottom
nipple of the auxiliary canister.

11. Tighten the auxiliary canister mounting bolts.
Tightening torque:
3.9 ~ 5.9N.m (0.4 ~ 0.6kgf.m, 2.9 ~ 4.3lb-ft)

12. Install the CCV extension wire clip.

13. GDS Evap Leakage Test:
Perform GDS Evap Leakage Test according to This will confirm that the installation of parts

14. Fill in the information on the 00305-SC958
Campaign Sticker and apply onto the hood in
the area below the Emission Label as shown.
Be sure to clean the mounting surface to
ensure proper label adhesion.

Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode
Island, Vermont and Washington:
Complete the campaign card per the below instructions:
VEHICLE EMISSION RECALL - PROOF OF CORRECTION CARD
A Vehicle Emission Recall - Proof of Correction card must be filled out for all vehicles registered
in California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York,
Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington. Residents of these states,
who own an affected vehicle, will be required to possess a Vehicle Emission Recall - Proof of
Correction card as evidence of voluntary service campaign completion, when they apply for
vehicle registration renewal.
WHAT TO DO WITH THE CARD:
The Vehicle Emission Recall - Proof of Correction card must be completed by the Dealership’s
Service Manager using a permanent ink pen. A fine point pen is recommended. When filling in
the information, copy the information directly from the vehicle, not from the repair order. ALL
INFORMATION MUST BE PRINTED AND NEAT.
The copy of the card shown below indicates all the areas to be filled in.
The completely filled out Vehicle Emission Recall - Proof of Correction card should be
given to the owner of the vehicle upon completion of the Campaign.
