Repair Instructions
Aftertreatment Hydrocarbon Doser, Replacement
NOTE: Before proceeding, please make sure that the ECM (Engine Control Module) is up to date and there are no
pending updates available.
NOTE: Model Year US17 changes to the AHI system have been made. US17 has been updated to a High flow
nozzle. The low flow nozzle has been used for North American heavy duty engines since 2011. All US17 11L and
13L engines will now use the high flow nozzle (16L engines will continue to use the low flow nozzle).
Removal
1. Apply the parking brake and place the shift lever in neutral.
2. Disconnect all cables from ground (negative) battery terminals to prevent personal injury from electrical shock
and prevent damage to electrical components.

3. Remove fastener and P-clamp securing the line to the mounting bracket on the diffuser pipe. Note: Step 3
does not apply to D11 engines.
4. Disconnect the line from the aftertreatment hydrocarbon doser fitting. Collect any residual fuel that might be in
the line in a suitable container.

5. Remove the aftertreatment hydrocarbon doser mounting fasteners. Remove the aftertreatment hydrocarbon
doser from the diffuser pipe (which attaches to the turbocharger outlet). Disconnect the line from the
aftertreatment hydrocarbon doser fitting. Collect any residual fuel that might be in the line in a suitable
container.

Installation
1. Clean the sealing surface on the diffuser pipe before mounting the aftertreatment hydrocarbon doser.
2. Install the aftertreatment hydrocarbon doser onto the diffuser pipe (which attaches to the turbocharger outlet).
Tighten the fasteners to specification, refer to Function Group 20, Specifications. Note: The fasteners already
include pre-applied high-temperature anti-seize compound.
3. Connect the line to the aftertreatment hydrocarbon doser. Tighten the line fitting to specification, refer to
Function Group 20, Specifications.
4. Install the P-clamp and fastener to secure the line to the mounting bracket on the diffuser pipe. Note: Step 4
does not apply to D11 engines.
5. Reconnect all previously removed cables to the ground (negative) battery terminals.
6. Start the service regeneration process. When fuel dosing starts, check for leaks starting on the hot side of the
engine. Clear any diagnostic trouble codes, if needed. Note: If fault tracing was performed using Guided
Diagnostics, return to Guided Diagnostics for repair verification.

Dosificador de hidrocarburos de postratamiento, Reemplazo
NOTA: Antes de continuar, asegúrese de que el ECM (módulo de control del motor) esté actualizado y no hay
actualizaciones pendientes disponibles.
NOTA: Se han realizado los cambios en el sistema en el modelo año US17. US17 ha sido actualizado a una
boquilla de alto flujo. La boquilla de bajo flujo ha sido usada en motores de servicio pesado en América del Norte
desde 2011. Todos los motores US17 de 11L y 13L utilizarán ahora boquillas de alto flujo (los motores de 16L

2. Desconecte todos los cables de los terminales negativos (tierra) de la batería para evitar lesiones por
descargas eléctricas y daños en los componentes eléctricos.
3. Retire el sujetador y la abrazadera en P que aseguran la línea al soporte de montaje en la tubería del difusor.
Nota: El Paso 3 no se aplica a los motores D11.
4. Desconecte la línea del conector de dosificador de hidrocarburos de postratamiento. Con un contenedor
adecuado, recoja todo combustible residual que podría estar en la línea.

5. Retire los sujetadores de montaje del dosificador de hidrocarburos de postratamiento. Retire el dosificador de
hidrocarburos de postratamiento desde la tubería del difusor (que se conecta a la salida del turbocargador).
Desconecte la línea del conector de dosificador de hidrocarburos de postratamiento. Con un contenedor
adecuado, recoja todo combustible residual que podría estar en la línea.

Instalación
1. Limpie la superficie de sellado en la tubería del difusor antes de montar el dosificador de hidrocarburos
de postratamiento.
2. Instale el dosificador de hidrocarburos de postratamiento a la tubería del difusor (que se conecta a la salida
del turbocargador). Ajuste los tornillos según la especificación, consulte el Grupo de funciones 20,
Especificaciones. Nota: Los sujetadores ya incluyen un compuesto antiadherente de alta temperatura
aplicado previamente.
3. Conecte la línea al dosificador hidrocarburos de postratamiento. Ajuste el conector de línea según la
especificación, consulte el Grupo de funciones 20, Especificaciones.
4. Instale la abrazadera en P y el sujetador para asegurar la línea al soporte de montaje en la tubería del
difusor. Nota: El Paso 4 no se aplica a los motores D11.
5. Reconecte todos los cables retirados anteriormente a los terminales negativos (tierra) de la batería.
6. Encienda el proceso de regeneración de servicio. Cuando se inicia la dosificación de combustible, revise si
hay fugas en el lado caliente del motor. Elimine los códigos de falla, si es necesario. Nota: Si se realizó el
rastreo de fallas usando Diagnóstico guiado, vuelva a Diagnóstico guiado
para verificación de la reparación.
