Customer states:
 The rear parking aid does not work.
AND/OR
 The trunk lid does not open using the hands-free tailgate release feature.
Workshop findings:
 There is damage found to the T14m connector or circuitry.
 There are various DTC(s) indicating “No signal” to one or more of the rear parking aid sensors.
The following DTC is logged in the comfort control module, J393 (address word 0046):
 DTC U115200 (control unit for rear lid opening, no communication).
Note:
The parking aid faults may be stored in one of the following control modules depending on which system is
installed:
 Control module for driver assist systems, J1121 (address word 00A5).
 Vehicle electrical system control module, J519 (address word 0009).

Technical Background
The connector housing or wires leading to connector T14m may become damaged due to road debris.

Production Solution
A protective grommet is now installed on the harness.

Service
1.

Inspect connector T14m and its circuitry at the left
rear bumper connector station TSFHL (Figures 1 and
2).

If there is damage found, repair the affected wires and/or connector housing using VAS1978B.

3.

Slide the new grommet, part number 443 906 102 G onto the harness and then reassemble the connector.
Ensure the grommet is fully seated on the connector before refitting the bumper.

4.

Once the repair is complete, clear out all DTC’s and check the system for functionality.
