 Warning message in driver information display stating, "Vehicle Electronics Malfunction" or “Shift to P,
otherwise vehicle can roll away. Doors do not lock if lever is not in P”.
Workshop findings:
The following DTC is stored in the vehicle central electrical system module, J519 (diagnosis address 0009):
 DTC B116229 (Selector lever park position lock switch implausible signal).

externally mounted microswitch
module and selector lever handle
sleeve per the instructions below

Warning: Before starting the repair the parking brake must be set so the vehicle does not roll during the
repair.

1.

Set the parking brake. Remove the shift knob with the boot and the complete center console (Position 12)
per the repair manual instructions (Figure 2).

Place the selector lever in “D” (Drive) and tape the opening of the shift gate to protect the selector lever
control module from screws or tools falling into the control module (Figure 3).

Remove the T-20 screw circled in red (Figure 4). The screw can be discarded as it will not be used in the
repair.

Install the spacer sleeve from the repair kit as shown below (Figure 5).

Install the new microswitch module starting with inserting the retaining tab on the passenger side as shown
below and rotate into position (Figure 6).

Install the flexible rear extension of the microswitch module into the hole at the rear of the selector lever
control module housing.

Secure the microswitch module to the selector lever housing with the new longer T-20 screw included in the
repair kit. Tighten the screw to 2.0 Nm (Figure 8).

Disconnect the electrical connector from the selector lever control module. Plug one end of the microswitch
module Y cable into the selector lever control module and the other end into the existing vehicle harness
that was just disconnected. Pull the foam cover over the connection to the vehicle harness. Place the
connection with the foam cover in front of the selector lever control module as circled below (Figure 9) route
the smaller wiring in a loop in-between the foam and the selector lever control module as shown below with
the red arrow (Figure 9).

Adjust the new microswitch module as follows:
 Remove the tape that is covering the shift gate.
 Place the selector lever in “P” (Park) Position.
 Lightly pull the selector lever toward the reverse lockout (the release mechanism must not be operated)
and hold in this position (Figure 10).
 Move the adjustable slide of the microswitch module until it is completely touching the selector lever and
tighten the two T-8 screws to 1.0 Nm.

Once the screws are tightened, remove the locking pin as shown below (Figure 11). Save the pin in case
you have to make another adjustment.

10. Reinstall the complete center console and the shift knob per the repair manual.
11. Perform the GFF test plan for the DTC B116229 (Selector lever park position lock switch implausible signal)
for fine-tuning of the microswitch module. Check for proper operation. If a 2nd adjustment is required,
reinsert the lock pin and follow the steps in Step 9.
12. Confirm the proper operation or the module.
