This TSB supercedes TSB−09−42A−015, issued October, 2009, to update affected vehicles, add Outlander
Sport and add FAST Key case part numbers. Changes are italicized and indicated by A.

PURPOSE
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) integrated key case and FAST Key Transmitter case repair kits are now
available. If the plastic parts of the key are broken or missing, but the key functions properly, use the
appropriate service parts kit instead of replacing the entire key assembly. When replacing only the
key case, it is not necessary to program immobilizer, RKE and OSS functions. For integrated RKE
keys, once the electronic components are transferred to the new case, the key can be cut to the
vehicle’s key code.
The contents of each kit depends on the vehicle model and model year. Refer to the Kit Contents
section of this TSB for details.
NOTE: To prevent breakage during repair, please follow the instructions in “Features and Controls” of the
owner’s manual or Group 42A BODY of the service manual when opening the key case for battery
replacement or other repairs.

FAST Key Transmitter Case Kit

Description
FAST Key transmitter case kits include both halves of the case, with the buttons and
emergency key retaining slide pre−assembled. It DOES NOT include the emergency
key. Transfer the customer’s original emergency key to the new key case.

WARRANTY INFORMATION
Only defective key cases may be replaced under warranty. The customer is responsible for
damage or breakage that is not due to a manufacturing defect. For warrantable conditions, this
cost effective case replacement repair must be used instead of replacing an entire key.
This bulletin is supplied as technical information only and is not an authorization to repair. If an
affected vehicle is observed with the described condition, diagnose the condition, repair as described
in this bulletin and submit a normal warranty claim using the following information.
