Summary

SITUATION
A “jingling” noise can be heard coming from the area of the passenger B-pillar when driving on rough
roads.
CAUSE
On uneven road surfaces the passenger safety belt (aka “seat belt”) inertia reel can be vibrated in its natural
frequency range causing the jingling noise.
CORRECTION
For Coupe/Convertible Models (F91, F92, G14, G15) the passenger-side safety belt inertia reel
must be replaced. The polystyrene block must be properly installed behind the reel.
For Gran Coupe Models (F93, G16) the passenger-side safety belt reel must be replaced
PROCEDURE
For Coupe/Convertible Models (F91, F92, G14, G15):
Follow Repair Instructions to remove safety belt inertia reel. When removing the reel, retain the polystyrene
block to be reinstalled.

REP-P-7211900-G15 (F92)
The safety belt reel mounting bolt must be replaced once removed.
Torque bolt to 42 Nm
After installation of the new safety belt inertia
reel, the white-colored polystyrene block must
be wedged between the reel and the pipe.

Here the block is properly wedged between
the pipe and reel.
Reassemble the vehicle.
Drive the vehicle on a rough road surface to
ensure the noise is gone.
For Gran Coupe Models (F93, G16):
Follow Repair Instructions to remove safety belt inertia reel.
REP-P-7211900-G16 (F93)
Replace seat belt inertia reel.
The safety belt reel mounting bolt must be replaced once removed.
Torque bolt to 42 Nm
Reassemble vehicle.
Drive vehicle on a rough road surface to ensure the noise is gone.
