WKJ5 - Replacing Generator (Workshop Campaign)

Information:

Due to a logistical error, the generators for various vehicle types of the 718 (982) and 911
(991) model line were interchanged.
The generators installed in the affected vehicle types with flat-four and flat-six engines are identical,
however the generators differ in the size of the pulley. Consequently, interchanging the generators
results in the nominal speed range of the relevant generator being exceeded or undershot. As a result,
the battery may not charge sufficiently or the generator may become damaged.

Remedial
Action:

Replace the generator.

Disconnect the battery.
For instructions, see  Workshop Manual '270619 Removing and installing battery'.

Remove rear apron  Workshop Manual '63551925 Removing and installing rear apron'.

Remove air cleaner housing  Workshop Manual '242519 Removing and installing air cleaner
housing'.

Replace the generator.
5.1

Slacken the drive belt and remove it from the generator pulley.
For instructions, see  Workshop Manual '137819 Removing and installing drive belt'.

5.2

Remove the generator and install a new, correct generator  Workshop Manual '272219
Removing and installing generator.'
Information
The correct generator for this vehicle type features a larger pulley than the generator
that was incorrectly installed.
