Air conditioning – compressor/evaporator line

Symptom:

When air conditioning is activated and the blower is at its highest setting, rumbling noises can be heard
in the vehicle and vibrations can be felt on the steering wheel. A plot showing the frequency of the noise/
vibration is below.

Cause:

Vibrations in the air-conditioning compressor can be transmitted into the interior of the vehicle via the
compressor/evaporator line.

Remedial
Action:

Fit blocking mass on compressor/evaporator line.

Manual '874519 Removing and installing compressor/evaporator line'.

Work Procedure: 1

Determine the position on the cut protection  Cut protection -1-.

Place measuring tape at the starting point  Cut protection -2- and measure 355 mm
along the compressor/evaporator line  Cut protection -A-.

Mark position  Cut protection -3- using a textile marker.

Be extremely careful when cutting open the cut protection so as not to damage the hose on the
refrigerant line underneath.

along the compressor/evaporator line  Blocking mass -A-.

Mark position  Blocking mass -3- using a textile marker.

Position blocking mass  Blocking mass -1- below the marking  Blocking mass -3- and
tighten screws  Blocking mass -4- to Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.) .
