NOTE: Mazda2 equipped with Lane-keep assist system is not applicable to this service bulletin due to a
difference of part supplier.

DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit a light resistance and/or an unusual noise when turning the steering wheel in
either direction. This concern may be caused by insufficient lubrication of the gear due to uneven and
deteriorated grease. To eliminate this concern, the production process for the steering shaft has been
further modified.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify the customer concern.
2. Inspect the label on the bottom of the steering motor.
3. Record the 2nd, 3rd and 4th digits of the lot number.
NOTE: The red circle shown below is the steering motor part number.

Example: The lot number in the sample part below is "CE62116". The 2nd, 3rd and 4th digits are "E62".

4. Using the three (3) digits found from the lot number inspection, determine the necessary action using the
table below.

2nd, 3rd and 4th Digits of Lot Number

5. Replace the steering shaft with a modified one according to the instructions on MGSS online:



