In conjunction with the Ohio DMV, Volkswagen will be sending Takata airbag recall
reminder notices to approximately 9,000 Volkswagen owners in the State of Ohio on
February 10, 2020.
A copy of the owner notification is attached for your reference.
Please make every effort to quickly schedule owners who contact your dealership for a
repair appointment.

Parts Department: Parts are available.
Please coordinate with your service department to ensure that parts are on hand to
support all scheduled appointments.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: VEHICLES AFFECTED BY SAFETY & COMPLIANCE RECALLS
New Vehicles in Dealer Inventory: It is a violation of federal law for a dealer to deliver a new
motor vehicle or any new or used item of motor vehicle equipment (including a tire) covered by
this notification under a sale or lease until the defect or noncompliance is remedied. By law,
dealers must correct, prior to delivery for sale or lease, any vehicle that fails to comply with an
applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard or that contains a defect relating to motor
vehicle safety.
Pre-Owned Vehicles in Dealer Inventory: Dealers should not deliver any pre-owned vehicles in
their inventory which are involved in a safety or compliance recall until the defect has been
remedied.

The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) is contacting you personally because your vehicle has a recalled
airbag that could kill or seriously injure you and your passengers if it deploys.
The BMV has received information from Volkswagen that the vehicle currently registered in your name with
the Vehicle Identification Number [VIN] has been recalled. If the airbag deploys, in some cases the airbag may
explode and spray sharp metal fragments or shrapnel toward you and your passengers.
According to records from Volkswagen, your vehicle has not been repaired yet. The potentially lifesaving
repair is FREE and parts are available now. Please immediately call a Volkswagen dealer for more
information or to schedule a FREE repair.

Volkswagen is one of 19 vehicle manufacturers affected by this recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration reports other auto manufacturers have 16 confirmed deaths in the United States and
hundreds of alleged injuries resulting from this defect.
