BLIND-SPOT COLLISION WARNING (BCW) RADAR UPDATE

Description: Some Palisade (LX2) vehicles may intermittently experience the BCW Malfunction
Indicator Light ON with a message “Check Blind-Spot Collision Warning System” displayed on the
instrument cluster. When the BCW Malfunction Indicator Light is ON, the BCW function becomes
inoperative. This bulletin provides the service procedure to update the BCW system software to correct
the intermittent BCW Malfunction Indicator Light.
NOTE: When the BCW Malfunction Indicator Message turns ON, the diagnostic code C270354 (Control
Module Slave Calibration) will be triggered.

CAUTION

If DTC C270354 is shown in the GDS scan history, perform the BCW software update. If DTC
C270354 does not appear in the GDS scan history, do not perform the update.
You must attach a picture of DTC C270354 in the GDS scan history to submit the warranty
claim. Claims submitted where the picture does not include DTC C270354 will be subject to
chargeback.

If DTC C270354 is shown in the GDS scan history, perform the BCW software update. If DTC
C270354 does not appear in the GDS scan history, do not perform the update.
You must attach a picture of DTC C270354 in the GDS scan history to submit the warranty
claim. Claims submitted where the picture does not include DTC C270354 will be subject to
chargeback.

BCW SOFTWARE UPDATE PROCEDURE

 NOTICE
Check if the vehicle’s software version is affected:
 Check the current version of the BCW ROM ID and compare it to the ROM ID information
table listed below before attempting to update the BCW system.

 NOTICE
You must initially perform the GDS BCW Update in Auto Mode.
 Refer to the TSB 15-GI-001 for the tablet-based Mobile GDS ECU update procedures.
 If the BCW Update starts but then fails in Auto Mode, perform the update in Manual Mode to
recover.

In the ECU Upgrade screen, select BCW as the system to update.

Service Procedure:
1.

Perform the BCW system DTC scan.
If the DTC code C270354 is shown in history code, then proceed with updating the BCW.

2.

Take a picture or screenshot of the GDS displaying DTC C270354 in history for warranty claim
image upload.

3.

Write down or take a picture of the BCW variant coding setting.

Select BCW as the system to update.

5.

Check the current version of the BCW ROM ID and compare it to the ROM ID Information Table
listed above before attempting to update the BCW system.

6.

Perform GDS software update. Refer to TSB 15-GI-001 for the tablet-based Mobile GDS ECU
update procedures.
7. After the software has updated, check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes in the ALL menus and erase
any DTC.
8.

Set the BCW variant coding from the information gathered in step #3 from above.

9.

Confirm normal vehicle operation.
