SERVICE ACTION: CHECKING THE THRUST WASHER AND THE
REAR AXLE ANTI-ROLL BAR

Please perform the procedure outlined in this Service Information on all affected vehicles before customer
delivery. In the event the customer has already taken delivery of the vehicle, please perform the procedure
the next time the vehicle is in the shop.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as “Open” when checked either in
AIR, the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader.

SITUATION
On vehicles with an incorrect setting of the thrust washer, contact between the thrust washer and the sway
bar may occur over time. This can lead to corrosion and breakage of the anti-roll bar.

CAUSE
Installation error of the right side rear axle thrust washer during manufacturing.

CORRECTION
Check the position of the right side thrust washer at the rear axle and correct if necessary. Replace the antiroll bar if any contact or paint damage from the thrust washer occurred.

PROCEDURE
1. Raise the vehicle to inspect the position of the right-rear thrust washer and the rear anti-roll bar for
damage.

2. Is the thrust washer properly positioned?

Yes: No further action required
No: Remove and replace the thrust washer bolt. Correctly position the thrust washer on the rubber mount
of the rear axle support.
Tighten the new bolt to 185 Nm
3. Inspect the anti-roll bar for damage near the right side mounting.
Was any visible damage to the anti-roll bar
(arrow) noticed, paint / coating damaged?
Yes: Replace the anti-roll bar as per
REP 33 55 000
No: No further action required
