Dear Dealer / Service Centre,

We hereby inform you that the joint analyses of Piaggio, the supplier and of external
specialized laboratories on the batteries in question, has unequivocally traced the
defectiveness of recharging, for which they will be replaced under warranty, to an activation
procedure carried out incorrectly.

For the reasons mentioned above all batteries replaced under warranty will be requested in
the Company and will be subjected to in-depth analysis. If the diagnosis shows an incorrect
activation procedure as the cause of the defectiveness, the entire cost of the warranty will be
charged to you without any further communication.
We also remind you that even in the event of failure to return within the time limits indicated in
the email requesting the return to the Company, the cost of the warranty will be charged
without any further communication.

We also point out that some of the batteries that return due to defective charging are not part
of the vehicle to which the guarantee request refers, but very much earlier.
To allow the tracking of the battery that is supplied with the motorcycle, a system will soon be
introduced that allows the unambiguous combination of the battery with each individual
vehicle (application of an adhesive strip showing the chassis number). Possible replacement
of batteries belonging to different vehicles or without an adhesive label will result in the total
warranty cost being charged.

In order to correctly carry out the activation of the batteries in question, below is the relative
procedure.

1. Actuation
 Place the battery on a flat surface.


Remove the cell's protective sticker.



Take the acid container.



Remove the cap 2 of the container 3.



Place the container upside down, perpendicularly above the battery, aligning the six
outlets with the six battery cells.



Apply pressure to the container to break the seals. The liquid will begin to flow into
the cells (see photo 1);

Check that air bubbles come out of the cells; let the liquid flow into the cells for at
least 20 minutes.



If no air bubbles escape and the liquid does not flow, tap lightly on the bottom of the
container until the liquid begins to flow into the cells. Never remove the container
from the battery, pierce it or cut it to facilitate the exit of the liquid.



Make sure the liquid container is completely empty before removing it.



Allow the battery to stand for at least 1 hour, before starting the charging process,
without closing the six cells. This operation is extremely important in order to have
the best battery performance over time.



Recharge the battery following the specifications indicated on the battery (see
photo 2).

For this specific battery, code 639792, it is essential to use a charger that delivers 1.2
Ampere (recharge time 5 -10 hours) or 5 Ampere (recharge time 1 hour).
