Condition
Customer statement:
 The vehicle air conditioning system or cabin heating system is inoperative.
 The blower motor may be inoperative as well however in cases where it may be operating, no cold air from the
air conditioning system or warm air from the heating system is delivered.
 The check engine light (MIL) is on.
Workshop findings:
One or both of the following DTCs will be stored in the climatronic control module, J255 (address word 0008):
 DTC B158129 (HV heater control module, Implausible signal - active/static).
 DTC B158131 (HV heater control module, no signal, passive/sporadic).

Technical Background
Under certain conditions when the climatronic control module, J255 (address word 0008) reactivates the High
Voltage Heater Z115 after a network sleep cycle an incorrect command can be sent to the Z115 EEPROM
causing permanent electrical damage requiring replacement of the high voltage heater Z115. Additionally, the
high voltage system fuse 3 S353 may be blown.

Production Solution
New software in the climatronic control module, J255 (address word 0008) addressed the condition.

Service
1. Replace the high voltage heater 3Q0 819 013 F using the procedure in Elsa and the high voltage system
fuse 3 S353 if necessary. Then, update the software of the climatronic control module, J255 (address word
0008) with the instructions below.
