Information:

There is a possibility that the sealing ring on the fuel tank cap will be pressed out of the sealing
seat under certain conditions on the affected vehicles.
If this happens, fuel vapor can escape from the fuel tank. The customer may get a smell of fuel and might
hear a hissing noise in the fuel tank cap area.

Remedial
Action:

Replace fuel tank cap.

Carefully pull the retaining strap  Removing
retaining strap for fuel tank cap -1- down
 Removing retaining strap for fuel tank
cap -arrow a- and then guide it up over the
retaining pivot  Removing retaining strap
for fuel tank cap -arrow b- and remove it.

Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.



Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.



Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.

Carefully unscrew and remove fuel tank cap.

Fit new fuel tank cap on the filler neck and screw it on until it engages securely with an audible
click.

Position retaining strap  Attaching retaining
strap for fuel tank cap -1- on the retaining
pivot  Attaching retaining strap for fuel tank
cap -2-, pull it down carefully  Attaching
retaining strap for fuel tank cap -arrow- and
guide it over the retaining pivot.

Close the filler flap and press on the rear of
the filler flap until it engages securely.

Enter the campaign in the Warranty and Maintenance
booklet.
