When conducting general diagnostics, software downloads, activations and quick tests with VIDA, it is

imperative that the vehicle’s system voltage is maintained. Too high or too low a voltage can result in

software download problems. It is recommended that a voltmeter be used along with the maintainer to

monitor the voltage.

Some types of chargers increase the voltage in order to maintain a constant current setting. Fast chargers

and standard battery chargers, especially when set to “boost”, should never be used during software

downloads.

While higher voltage can be advantageous for charging batteries, it can be the reason for a failed

software download and other problems.

performing software downloads and diagnostic fault tracing.

The uninterrupted, filtered and constant voltage supplied by the Midtronics units is critical to ensuring

successful software downloads.

Volvo has classified the Midtronics Power Supply units as mandatory.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Charger Connection Procedure

Connect the positive cable clamp to the battery and the negative cable clamp to the vehicle chassis

BEFORE connecting the power supply unit to a 120-volt, 3-wire grounded, AC power source.

The Midtronic Power Supply units are designed with high quality components to ensure years of
