On some ProStar® Sleeper vehicles the front HVAC blower motor may fail to start after the vehicle has sat for a
period of time. This Service Procedure is divided into two sections: “Replacement of Blower Assembly and
LPM with Installation of Tape Seal”, and “Replacement of LPM only”.
NOTE: This AFC only applies to vehicles marked in Service PortalSM with AFC 13910.

WARNING: Park vehicle on hard flat surface, turn the engine off, set the parking brake, and
block the wheels to prevent the vehicle from moving in both directions. Failure to do so may result
in property damage, personal injury, and / or death.

WARNING: To prevent personal injury or death, wear safety glasses with side shields.

WARNING: Keep flames or sparks away from vehicle and do not smoke while servicing
the vehicle’s batteries. Batteries expel explosive gases. Failure to do so may result in property
damage, personal injury, and / or death.

WARNING: Remove the ground cable from the negative terminal of the battery before
disconnecting any electrical components. Always connect the ground cable last. Failure to do so
may result in property damage, personal injury, and / or death.

Vehicles requiring replacement of the Blower Assembly and the LPM with Tape Seal Installation (Kit):
Garland Assembly Plant: Start Date: 01 January 2010 End Date: 28 November 2012

Removal Procedure
1. Park the vehicle on a flat level surface.
2. Shift transmission to park or neutral and set parking brake.
3. Install wheel chocks.
4. Remove battery box cover.
5. Disconnect negative battery terminal.
NOTE: For more information, refer to appropriate section of Service Manual S16047.
6. Remove Interior Module Trim Cover.
7. Remove Blower Scroll Housing.
8. Remove Blower Assembly.

9. Fold tape lengthwise and apply tape to cover gap between gaskets (Figure 1, Item 1) on top of evaporator
(Figure 2).

Installation Procedure
NOTE: For additional information, refer to appropriate section of Service Manual S16047.
1. Install new Blower Assembly.
2. Replace LPM.

ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURE
Expense is to be charged to Warranty. Claims are to be submitted in the normal manner, making reference to
Authorized Field Change 13910.
It is important that the coding be completed properly to assist in processing the warranty claim. Complete
instructions will be found in the Warranty Policy Manual, Section 7.1.8.
As with all claim submissions, items acquired locally must be submitted in the “Other Charges” tab. The cost
of any bulk items (such as a bag of cable tie straps, roll of wire, barrel of oil, or tube of silicone) should be
prorated for the cost of the individual pieces / amount used during each repair.
To make sure this important improvement is made in a timely manner, all claims for AFC 13910 activity must
be submitted by 31 March 2014 or within the normal warranty period for the vehicle, if after 31 March 2014.
